Candiac,
Hi i know the gs-t exhaust will not fit on a gsx. My question is very specific to my custom exhaust routing. I have to swap out my blown 7 bolt motor for a 6 bolt so i though i would undergo a fwd to awd conversion as well. My concern is that my exhaust routing. Here is a link to the exhaust in question.

Rawtek Performance Fabrication inc.

My concern is the gas tank and the rear diff. Will this exhause fit with the gsx rear subframe diff and gas tank.

Thanx

Rob

i wanna say no, it wont fit, but im not 100% sure on that.

do you really wanna go Dual Exhaust?

i heard it on a NT 2g, and it sounded like a$$, worse than a Honda fart can. just my .02 though.

I too am thinking its not going to work, from the downpipe back. Looks like currently the system is centered in the tunnel, which won't work on an awd because of the drive shaft. Also the system goes through the center of the gas tank on an awd (because it has the hump for the driveshaft) but I would think the exterior dimensions of the tank are probably larger to make up for this, which wouldn't allow the exhaust to be routed around the tank, like it currently is. Also appears that where your single pipe seperates to two under the subframe will be an issue with the rear diff.

I like single exhaust on dsms but good luck if you go with dual. Here is a diagram of the awd and the fwd turbo eclipse exhaust routing.

the way i see it the exhaust is the same from the turbo to the gas tank in both cases. When i get to the gas tank i would have to cut my exhaust and then get it re-fabed to fit the gsx gas tank...Now what about the diff? Will the diff fit where split is? Are there any guys here running 3' dual on a gsx?

really? My GST Exhaust looks just like the first picture and im positive. I also was told that there are no big bends on the AWD exhaust, witch is another reason i though they were backwards. Hmmmm...now im confused.

Hey kid, looks like here needs to be some re-routing of the exhaust like Daren P. said. The FWD exhaust runs through the center where the driveshaft would go and on the rear it sits where the differential would be located (first pic). You can get a better view of how the whole thing is mounted in the attached picture. Hope this helps

The first posted diagram is a fwd exhaust, & the second is obviously the awd then. Its hard to tell from the diagrams but like I mentioned above the downpipes are offset differently because the fwd has the exhaust in the center of the tunnel, while the awd has it offset to the side to allow room for the driveshaft.

It is possible to basically modify anything but in this case, it seems as though there will be numerous modifications required so it is probably just as easy to start from scratch again.

Though when I look at it, maybe it won't be all that hard. Have to modify the downpipe (& also have to make sure you have proper clearance for the transfer case), offset the center section, which should just be changing the hangers. Chop the pipe before it routes around the gas tanK & install a new pipe basically straight back. Remove from the choped portion to where the duals attach, shorten the pipe abit on the drivers side & lengthen the one from the passengers so the main 3" pipe thats basically coming straight back through the gas tank will curve abit to go around the drivers side of the diff.

My paint skills are pretty awsome but I think this should give you an idea of what I'm talking about:
