ok, I currently have KYB AGX's with Eibach Prokit springs. I'm pretty happy for the most part with the way it handles, but it needs to be much lower. the rear looks about right, but the front still has about 4 inches wheel gap. I definitely need it to be lower. I was considering going with ground control coilovers and I was just wondering what people have noticed as far as a difference in ride between the two. I've read as many posts as i could find on here and I keep seeing that the ground controls would provide a much rougher, noisier ride.

*ALSO, if possible, please post pics of your cars (2g only please) with ground controls installed. I wanna get an idea of how low these will make my car.*

I appreciate any help you can give me.

btw, I have a 96 talon tsi awd if that helps.

The default GC kit will have similar spring rates. The ride is only going to be more rough when you lower it and your shocks will wear out faster, as these cars are not designed to be lowered so they ride like crap when they're lowered more than a couple of inches. It may feel more responsive when it's lowered, but it isn't handling "better".

So basically, if you lower it, you'll be doing it for looks. It won't handle any better. If you want it to handle better you'd buy bigger swaybars, poly bushings, stiffer spring rates, and keep it lowered no more than about 2" from stock. You'll have to decide what's more important to you - better handling or better looking.

ludachris pretty much wrapped it all up in a neat paragraph. I do not have the GCs on my talon, but I did put them on my sentra. They are a big step from the stock springs, but not so much a big step from the eibachs I had on before the GC's. They are a quality piece and gives the ability to match the corner weights. A definate advantage for better handling. Never lowered my car more than about an inch and half on the sentra though.
But again, it really is looks or performance.

well I don't plan on slamming the car, but I would like it just a little bit lower and I'm sick of doing trial and error with suspension parts. I figured if I got these it would give me the height I'm looking for and similar handling, thats kind of more what I was asking. I don't wanna tuck my wheels or anything. and I actually do have sways and bushings already, so for the most part I'm pretty happy with the way it handles. I just don't want to regret getting these considering it is my daily driver in the summer. I'd love to spend the money on a nice set of Tein coilovers, but unfortunately I have other priorities at the moment and I'm also not looking for anything too extreme. just decent ride, handling and looks.

The nice thing about the GC kit (and coilovers in general) is that you can adjust ride height. So you can find a setting that is a good compromise of what you're looking for in terms of handling and looks. I would say to try and save up for Konis though. They'll outlast any other shock you put on the car when you lower it and will perform wayyyyy better. Any other shock you use will wear out prematurely when you lower the car.

so I ordered the coilovers and they finally came in. I decided to start with installing the rears first. the install went very smooth, the only problem I have now is when the car is lowered back to the ground, it doesn't sit very low. I was reading a post a little bit ago that said to knock of the spring perch thats on the shock? but if I did that, won't the threaded collar from the coilover have nothing to sit on? PLEASE HELP ASAP

you have to knock the spring perch off (a hammer will do the trick) when you knock them off, you'll see a small ledge that will hold the coilover up.

got it! thank you. that was a lot easier than their instructions made it seem.

good to hear. i've had friends who refused to knock it off only to be riding around and then the perch gives and the car drops to the ground LOL. funny shit to watch.
