Well my Saturday project is trying to put my coil overs on my 1g. Just have a few questions. I'm using ground control coil overs with kyb agx's. I read on vfaq that the dust shield is no longer useable, but I still need that top part the bump stop? I think it is. So here is a picture I took to see if this looks right. Also the cushion that's in top portion does that stay in there or does the new one with the kit get installed with it also?

Just have to bear with me a little longer to get this all straight. Here's a new picture of changing around that stuff. My question concerns the metal part that is going to hit the spring. Is that right or am I missing something. Also those are the old cushions on the outside of the shocks. Just left them in the picture to have everything there.

I got everything in the rear taken care of, but the front just doesn't seem right. I did everything like the vfaq said, but when I look into the wheel well it looks like there is almost no rod there. Is this normal? Cause it's the sleeve with the grooves, then the adjuster, spring on top of that, then the plate, and two washers at the top with the existing top mount just like they have in the picture, but when installed it looks as if the whole rod is basically compressed. I looked at my friends gsx with lowering springs and his rod is still pretty visable with the same drop, but he's using H&R sports. I'm not sure if this is the way it should look?

If its anything like the 2g, you get rid of that metal cup... there should be a round washer that stops at an increase in size of the shocks that stop the shock from jumping around... that should be all you need... Damn I wish I woulda got the GC coil overs now... I got some ebay shit version and the adjustment pole is like 2" tall period... so I'm going to have to come up with something.

How low do you have the spring perch on the adjuster sleeve?

When you say "same drop" do you mean same wheel gap / height off of the ground (could be different sized rims) or are you measuring from the center of the hub to the fender?

If possible please take another picture. I'm not 100% familiar with the 1G.

The cup shouldn't have anything to do with how much travel you have left in the shock since it's supposed to just hold the bumpstop.
