groove inside of oil pan and load knocking

I just finished a 6 bolt rebuild and its rapping pretty bad. THere is a groove on the inside of my oil pan that was there before the rebuild but it was rusty and now the rust is gone and looks fresh. I didnt see any marks on my rod caps or crank. MY oil pan also looks like a 7bolt pan but all holes lined up with the block. I checked all bearings and the only thing i could see was small scuff mark on some of the main bearings. All specs where checked and were in spec.Any one have any idea of what the problem is?I also tried installing .25mm bearings on the crank and it wouldnt turn at all by hand.

What part of your rotating assembly is in line with the scuff mark?

It looks like cylinder 3 rod cap .

Put some blue silicone or something that is colored on the rod cap, then put the pan on and turn the engine over by hand. Then take off the the pan and see if their is blue on the pan. Then you will know if that is it or not. If it is, try a different pan. Or check if yours is dented for some reason.

Would that cause a really loud knocking? Its louder then it was before with a blown piston and spun bearings.

It could if it keeps hitting the pan.

And if your bearings aren't bad, then I would doubt it's really a rod knock. I would keep the bearings in it that spec'd out ok, rather than putting larger bearings in for no reason.

If part of your rotating assembly is hitting the oil pan then yes.

sounds like a 2.4 crank in there. number 3 rod will hit the pan. needs ball peen hammer to fix.
