There is grinding noise coming from my A/C compressor. My AC doesnt blow cold air anymore. Could it be that my compressor has a broken, misalinged clutch? I took the belt off and the grinding noise is gone.

Just a few questions:
1. Is there a way to test the compressor if its broken?
2. How hard is it to remove the compressor out of a 95 GST?
3. How many lines run to the compressor?
4. Are the lines pressurized? How do you depressurize?

Thanks!

4 bolts and it comes out, theyre are 2 lines connected to it, and yes if you take one of them puppies off out fly's the freon back away! IT is illegal to release freon to the atmosphere. You can kill the ozone and just take the line off the compressor and let it out, or take it to a shop and have it done legally

did you figure this out?
I tried taking mine out 2day, its a pain in the ass.

from what I got, it comes out the top.
remove the brake fluid resorvior, and push it to the side, can also remove the fuel return to get more space.

Attack it from underneath the car. You won't have to pull the Intake Manifold. It's easy to do.
