Grinding noise from under shifter

For a while now i've had this grinding noise and I figured out that it is coming from the area underneath the shifter. It isn't that loud, just a kind of kshhhhhhhh sound like spinning metal rubbing lightly together. The noise comes on when you get going about 10mph and above and goes quiet again when you slow down. It doesn't seem to get any louder at speed either. The u-joint on the driveshaft maybe? I had that go bad on my FC3S once but it was a way different squeaking noise, not a grinding. I don't know, I looked around under there and nothing looked like it was rubbing. Any ideas?

Probably a u-joint or carrier bearing.

Could be as simple as a muffler clamp (or anything exhaust related) touching the belly of you car. I had this happen when I turned the clamp for my slip on cat a little too sideways, it hit the drive shaft tunnel just a little.

Could possibly be the throw out bearing in the tranny

That would be more of a squeaky noise from further forward wouldn't it? This sounds like its coming from rearward of the xfer case. I'm going to get under there and have a look again tonight. If it is the U joint or carrier bearing, how hard is that to fix? When the ujoint went all bad on my FC3s i had to buy a rebuilt driveshaft.

Check your brakes, I had the same problem but it stoped once i put new roders and pads on.
