Hey everyone names Luis im new to dsm ive recently bought a 91 tsi talon in pretty nice condition motor wise now the poblem im having is that im grinding all gears exept 5 and rev i have installed a new clutch master and slave and bled properly the clutch does not slip at all sometimes i will be completly stopped go to put it in first and it grinds what do you guys think??? All help is greatly appreciated.:thumb:
 
sounds like air in the system . When you bled it off did you have a hose in clean fluid off of slave to ensure air did not get sucked back in ? If not time to redo . Oh and welcome .
 
my car grinds all gears except 5th and reverse wtf??? new clutch master and new slave could it be the syncros? :talon:
 
First step would be to check your clutch fluid. If that is full and there are no leaks in the system, then you can check your transmission gear oil.

You may be able to temporarily alleviate your grinding noise by switching to a new type of gear oil. Those gear oils and the opinions about them can be found with a quick search.
 
check the cables for you shift linkage to make sure its all hooked up right, and check the actual shift arm to make sure that nothing there is messed up.
 
I say your first step before any of the other suggestions is to ensure there is an appropriate amount of fluid and then adjust the master cylinder rod. If you're not getting enough throw in the clutch pedal you will grind gears even when at a standstill.
Give yourself some more throw via the adjustment rod and see if that helps.

And as people have also mentioned check the Slave and Master Clutch Cyl. It might also be a broken clutch fork. But I will say check the fluid and check for bubbles as well.
 
well the master cylinder rod is all the way out towards the master so i cant adjust it anymore i bought the car from a member here and i found this

Well hey guys it was time to change my clutch and i was low on moneyso i had to get a stock one. I work at a mechanic shop and ive done hundreds of clutches, so here we go i dropped the tranny everythings going good and i notice my flywheel had cracks on it so i send it to the machine shop to get resurfaced. It was resurfaced to OEM specs which i myself checked. So i put everything back on i turn on the car (clutch swith is disconected) while in tha air on the lift and no gear wanted to go in, the clutch wasnt being realeased well. I dont know if the clutch was too thick (which has happened in the past) or the flywheel but right now im going crazy. i dropped it again and put washers between pressure plate and flywheel and it didnt work but when i did put the washers it got better, like before the washers i would turn it on with the gear in place and it would throw forward but now it moves slightly. Should i put fatter washers or what. Help please

what do you think i should do??? sorry for the long post but if i dont fix this i will have to stay will my v8 and gas is killing me!!!
