What is the little hole for underneath the vac. source nipple on a greddy rs bov? I'm been having a misfire problem under boost and when I went to pressurize the intake I have a huge boost leak through that little pinhole. It looks like it's some type of bleeder, but I can't tell for sure what it is or why it's leaking out of there. Thanks!

The hole is to vent the bottom chamber thats under the diaphragm. As far as I know this camber should be sealed from the pressure with the seal thats in the lower chamber around the piston valve stem. It could also be a damaged diaphragm itself, which would allow pressure to leak into the lower chamber. If you pop the top off you may be able to see if the diaphragm is damaged. If so you can purchase a new one but I think their close to $100.

doens't that basically mean the bov is bad and either needs the diaphram replaced or a new bov? I guess it's kinda common on the RSs to have this problem?

Depending on whats leaking you will either need the piston shaft to body seal or a diaphragm, or like you said you could purchase a new BOV. Depending on how old it is it may be under warranty (just don't be expecting quick turn around with Greddy). This doesn't seem to be a common problem with the Type RS, but yes it isn't unheard of & can happen on any diaphragm type BOV.

That sucks. My ebay rs still holds 20+ psi fine. I guess you get what you pay for....

If you are looking for a new BOV check out Steed Sport inline BOV. I might be tring one out soon.

Well... I didn't have the exact same problem as you but, I did have a similar problem. My problem was that the diaphram itself would not seal to the bottom of the BOV itself. So whenever I would do (or try- because I couldn't) a boost leak test the air would just rush out of the opening of the BOV. I don't know if it's something to look into but, just a thought.

P.S.- Do you hear a whistlening when you decelerate at low speeds or drive really really slow?

Hahahaha I had to laugh at that. I'm glad you're ebay deal is going so well. My ebay RS didn't hold pressure very well at all. I've now got the Greddy RS, but I got a pretty good deal on it. We will see how well it holds up to the 18-20psi I'm going to be throwing at it in a few weeks.

OP: Just take it apart like the above people said, but take pictures. Did you buy it used? How old is it?

It's fairly new but I don't know where it was purchased. I bought the car from a friend for a great deal ( 48k miles and mint ), but the bov was already on it. Since it's my daily driver and I can't afford downtime I'm going to head up to titan motorsports tomorrow since they are about 10 miles from my house and just buy a new bov. Hopefully I can find a rebuild kit for this one and sell it, I just wanted to verify that was indeed the problem and what that port was for. I'll post back tomorrow after I get the new one and see what happened.

^^^Get an HKS SSQV- Thats what I have switched over to and am loving every minute of it

I'll be installing the HKS SSQV this spring too when the car comes out. It will be replacing the Type RS I was running. There was nothing wrong with my RS BOV (one of the few Greddy products that actually worked for me) but I've had a 75% failure rate on the new & less then a year old Greddy products I've owned, so I will no longer buy their products & am selling what I do have left from them. I also wasn't very impressed with the 4-7 month wait it took for me to get my brand new warranty repairs back :notgood:

Yeah... The problem that I listed above happened to me twice in under a weeks time of use on each RS. The first one was defective, I returned it and got a new one. Then, the new one did the exact same thing. Got and SSQV the next time and now, a few months later, holding boost better then ever. You'll be very happy with it.

I went to titan today and got another rs because the car is a daily driver and I can't afford the downtime to change the flange out of the hks. Once I put the new one on the car felt stronger than ever. I'm assuming the old bov had a small leak even before it finally broke. Thanks for the input.

I don't mean to scare you or anything but, when I had the NEW RS it was awesome. But, after a few pulls the diaphram got stuck open and then the RS didn't feel so "awesome" anymore.
