There was a soundclip posted recently of an RS while idling/revving. It sounds the same as the type-s.

I was in the same situation, then i asked Mike at RRE and he said that the type rs doesnt recirculate back into the intake. so i ended up getting the type s :dsm:

Yes there is a way to recirculate the RS. I have one and have had it since it first came out. I got it in and went to my girlfriends dads shop and made a little piece for it to be re circulated.... here is the write up I did on carolinadsm back in febuary.... I will see if I can get some pics of it and post them up...
I seen a couple of people wanted some more info on it....
Well I just purchased and installed the other day. As of now no problems what so ever. I think it looks extremely nice. Sounds like a stock 2g only louder. Almost like the blitz, just a loud rush of air. The only thing that gave me trouble was the surge port(little blue thingy). I am running it re-circed and am the only one that I know of who is doing so. What I did , it is difficult if don't have a machine at your disposable, my girlfriends dad is a huge drag junkie and has his own shop, what I did was I took a piece of aluminum rod and used the lathe(?) and drilled a hole through the middle of it(aluminum rod). Fitted it to were it fit perfectly into the surge port. Nice and tight. Used some lock tight and a hammer and a 2x4 to get it in there nice and snug. Then just used that to re-circ like the end of the type-s. Sounds a little strange now that I am reading it. I need to see if I can get my roomate to take some pic's and upload them so you can actually see what I mean. Again holds boost GREAT!!!!! Love the look, the sound, and I got it for $150 in the box from some guy. I am sure you could get something other than what I did to re-circ it but this is what we did just out of the blue. I will try and get some pic's so it will be easier to understand.

I mean no dis-respect to Mike at RRE...... Also I was told by someone that they were talking to Mike at Slowboy and he was telling him that there is a recirc kit out fot the RS. I just didn't want to wait for it so I decided to do this. Later,
-Mike

Basically I think the RS is just the re-designed type s, they made a bunch of improvements & it just came out a few months ago, so thats why they cost more. There is an option to get an adapter for the RS to have it recirculate instead of venting.

Allegedly, the RS is designed to hold 10% more boost than the S. And it does hold boost better if you plan on running high boost applications. But if you're looking to run over 25 PSI, get a Tial or a Type R.

The sound is louder and more violent than the S. There is a recirculation kit you can buy for the RS (an extra $20) that allows you to do the obvious.
