Great Vid of a Transfer Case blowing up on the Dyno

Well I wonder if it was "shear power" or if noone spotted the thing leaking anything.

How common is it to see tcases just snap like that? Obviously its common for them to leak and then lock up, but Ive never seen a complete snap.

that's what I was thinking, locking up then the weight of the rollers still turning the wheels. Some thing has to give.

Maybe it's just because I'm a WWD guy, but I don't hear much about shops rebuilding/replacing/upgrading transer cases (or offering services to do such things). Why is this? I think this is one of the parts that some people may tend to overlook, like axles.

Was it me or did the parts look sort of dry as well when they popped from under the car...I'd expect some sort of liquid to have splattered around...there didn't seem to be any.... I would guess that thing was dry....especiallyl with t he way it snapped....just doesn't seem like "raw power" would do that....

Shep will build(upgrade) transfer cases. I think maybe TRE will too.

That was pretty lucky for tcase to blowup and emerge on the camera side, now seeing that the tcase is connected to the driveshaft shouldn't the end have come up just a bit later than the middle, since it has to be thrown of the shaft.

I had one cease on me and all I did was skid off the road missed hitting anything lucky for me but the way that thing came apart. Yeah serious power or a defective case. I was going like 65 mph that is got to be some force too.

Snapping transmission parts is just about as good as high hp numbers on a dyno I guess

Did it not seem like the dyno was heavily loaded for the amount of power he made?
