Hey DSM'ers I just purchased my first DSM yesterday and am waiting for delivery on it. I got a really good deal from an auction but that being the case didn't get to inspect it very thoroughly. I was wondering if there was anyone with connection in the Grand Rapids MI. area where I could have it checked out on a budget? I know it needs a slave cylinder but i'm confident I can do that myself. As far as I know its all stock (96 FWD TSI) outside the Exhaust and Clutch.

Josh, closest place that really knows these cars is Strictly Performance in Kalamazoo. Just read up on the forums here and post questions, this is a great forum and there is a lot of knowledgeable people here that will answer questions. Do all the maintenance first before you do any mods. I just did a clutch cylinder myself recently, it was less than $20 and took me about an hour. Good Luck and welcome to the forums.

Thanks! If I can do the Slave Cyl. Myself then I could drive it down there. I am really glad I found this forum and I feel like I can glean a lot of good knowledge of some of you seasoned DSM vets.

Also consider Force Engineering in Plainwell and Whalen's Speed in Paw Paw. Tyler and John are both very knowledgeable of the DSM platform.
Again, Thanks! I just hope that I don't discover any major issues when I get it. I don't know how far I would want to drive it without a solid knowledge of its dependability.
