My friend has a 98 GSX and a 1st gen turbo, intercooler piping, no electronics, when he gets on it hard everytime right above 5000 rpms, it'll just stop accelerating almost like he left off the gas and shoot a black puff of smoke out the tail pipe, any answers

hes hitting fuel cut, either a nasty boost leak, or to much boost... but do a search on fuel cut, cause that what it is forsure.

of the ecu could be pulling timeing, usually when u hit fuel cut it feels like a violent slamming into a invisiable wall.

Like no AFC, no boost controller, stuff like that, yeah it feels like he hits a wall so im sure its that
