Ok guys its 10:00 am here at No Problem Raceway and we just came off the track for our first practice session of the day. Car felt pretty good a little loose in 1 part of the track but I'm going to atribute that to the cooler weather and cold tires in the beginning there. It was actuall a very good session as far as other cars, only myself and 3 other cars are in our group. So on an almost 2 mile track, a lot of open track out there.

I latched on to my step dads bumper in his Panoz Esperante GTS and tried to keep up with him. He runs around 1:26's, so I figured if I could keep the same distance between us the whole session, I would be doing pretty good.

Well this wil be my first update of the day. We practice till 4 pm this afternoon, so we are looking at some good track time before Round #3 of the GBRS tomorrow.

Well the 2nd session was a lot shorter than the first one. About 5 minutes into it I thought I heard a fluttering sound everytime I went past a portion of the track that has a wall. So on the next lap I heard it again in the same place and glanced at the boost gauge. Not even hitting 10 lbs when I am suppose to be at 15 WOT down the straightaway. So I go ahead and get it back around the track (slowly as possible) without hurting the car or messing anyone else up on the track.

Back in the pits I go ahead pop the hood and start checking all the couplers to see if maybe a clamp or a coupler had come loose. Everything seemed to be fine. As I was checking the coupler going to the turbo from the intake I noticed the back 2 bolts on the exhaust manifold were about HALF way out. Not the greatest of things to have flying out into the engine bay you know? So we let the motor cool a bit and got them tightened back down.

I'm just glad it was nothing "too" serious that would have or could have cost us for tomorrows event. Almost lunch time here so its food time.

CLOSE CALL here in the 3rd practice session. Heading down a short shoot straight in the back end of the course, a Corvette was pointing me by him so I punched it and was clear until he decided to keep with the turn. I had to take an off track excursion there to keep from turning into him. Almost had a shot at turning right into his drivers side door at about 80 mph.

My lap times did not look all that good. Nothingbetter than a 1:34 which is 4 econds slower than my best time. But only about 2 seconds off my average here. So since I am not pushing the car as hard as I would during the events, that's pretty good to me. With all my front brake issues as of let (drivers fault not brakes). I don't want to risk messing up for tomorrow.

Wow, how fun does racing sounds today

Its snowing like crazy here in WEEsconsin and your giving us a live report of your race day, GGRRR!!

Better use some red lock-tight on all your bolts so they dont come loose, nothing goot comes from bolts coming off.

LoL...sorry for your snow up there. I could rub it in more and say its almost 80 but I won't.

Yeah, lock tight already applied to the bolts. Shouldn't have that problem anymore. The day is going good otherwise. Just trying to feel certain sections out a ittle better for tomorrows event. At least 1 more run today maybe 2. Formula guys are practicing now for 45 minutes so a little break in the action for me.

Last sesion of the day went very well actually today. Had the transponder on and was trying different technique tht my stepdad was telling me about througha certain section. He was not braking and entering a little slower,I tried but mentally for some reason I "have" to at least tap the brakes. So after 2 laps I decided to try some left foot braking instead. It seemed to have worked.

I came off the track and went to the timing tower and my best lap of the session was 1:31.4. I was very consistent at 1:33's where I usually am. That is right where I want to be heading into tomorrows event. So all and all the 4 runs I had went very well and exactly what I wanted for the practice session. Looking forward to tomorrow now.

How'd the race go? I'm dying to know!

Do they run any DEs along with the race weekend?

Racing went great. I set another personal best lap time (I broke out though) and actually qualified better than I ever have. Will be posting a full race report sometime today.

Yes, they normally run a DE/Lapping Day the day before the GBRS event, that is what we were doing on Saturday the "practice" session.

An update on your racing success please! LOL

And a FYI I checked your profile and let me tell you now, those Hawks will take a crap on you real fast. My front's were thrashed to the point where they FELL APART. In my opinion, Portfield pads are the best. I am loving my Portfield R4-S fronts. But if you want the most extreme braking for the track, go with the R4-E.

boostfrenzy - If you want to know how I am doing this season, you can checkout all my race report blogs under the blog section. It has all 3 rounds so far and how I did. Briefly I am sitting 2nd in the points in my class after 3 rounds.

As far as the brakes, I have heard similar issues with the Hawk pads before. I personally have yet to have any issues with the pads. I have looked into the Portfield pads and I like the feedback got from them. However, with my current sponsors of VIP Garage, I have not looked in to see if they offer the Portfield pads yet. If they do, I will give them a shot. But if not, I will for sure be honoring their commitment to me and run the setups the provide me. I'm sure you understand. Thank you for the comments.

-Wow. Nice to see a DSM at the top of the road race lists :thumb:

-Make the people happy who pay for a bit of your car, quite understandable.

I happen to like seeing that too man !!...Yeah, anytime a company is gracious enough to help me out in ANY way along this journey I am always going to do what I can to help them back. Thanks for checking my series and season out too man. Going to try and get a top 3 at the end of this thing, beef the car up some more and go for 1st overall next season. Easier said than done you know?
