:dsm:so what happened did u jump time....how many valves did u drop 3 or 4

well im pretty sure i dropped 4 valves yeah the head is gone there is no rebuilding that thing. as far as the block the cylinder wall seem to be fine im just gonna need new pistons and gonna buy a new head, what happened was i jumped timing without knowing it it wasnt from high reving or anything i dont think and no my timing belt didnt break its actually in really good condition. so yeah i dont know how it jumped timing.

Bad tensioner most likely. Any idea how many miles were on the T-belt?

New head and new pistons on that block bored over. Clean that mofo out like its no tomorrow! Those pics are painful to look at.

no, how much would that run me?

If he means evo motor that only works on the 420a eclipses which you don't have. But if your doing evo pistons etc then yes it can be done. I believe a good set of evo pistons run around 80 bucks possibly. That is used though.

I kept my damaged heads for mockup/porting practice. When you're done with them you can sell them as scrap.

Looks like the cylinders will need to be bored to clean up the scratches. I got away with not doing it when my valves met their demise (RIP). Good excuse to get forged pistons and some nice rods for them to sit on. Just because you're SOL on that front doesn't mean you need to put it back to stock. Also, pull your turbo off and check your tubine. You could have gotten a free clipping job, I did : (

Go to the junkyard and get a head for $50 or $75. if you're really picky, send the junkyard one to a machine shop and have them do the valves for $100. If you know where to look they are practically everywhere.

If you do the timing yourself, replace and inspect everything based on the VFAQ to the letter. I've seen or done everything from rotating the tensioner the wrong way, new key ways ground into the crank sprocket, harmonic balancer failure, 200k mile timing cover cracking into the belt, etc. Should I ever need to get or work on another DSM, the first thing I will do is spend the $300 or whatever and get all new timing components, which for me includes everything under the timing cover and the cover itself.

EVO swap? Think you can share some of whatever you are on? : D
