I kept an eye on the temps on both cars, plus I was spraying down the intercoolers with cold water between every run...
His clutch was gone by the end of the night and my slave cylinder blew out on mine.

Sounds like a blast, nice to see people having some fun.

To the person that thinks 1g's have more potential... Lol...

The fastest DSM happens to be a 1G.....I dont see how they dont have more potential than that. Pretty much stock I ran a 13.42 1/4...Like to see that out of a stock 2g.

Nice passes, Sorry to hear the clutch decided to go. And the slave cylinder. But still with those times ## roasting so many cars.

Yeah, someone decided to build a 1g so that means it's a better car... And no, you didn't run a 13.42 stock, "pretty much" isn't stock . Here's some facts to go with your opinion.

1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST 7.4 15.9
1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.9 15.2
1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 7.0 15.3
1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.8 15.2
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.4 14.9

And for the record, this still has nothing to do with "build potential."

Ehhhh.... Not quite. The fastest DSM happens to be a 2g.

Congrats man, awesome to see some friendly competition.

So stock turbo, Sidemount, Intake, injectors, manifold, O2 housing, engine, ECU, Charge pipes, cams, air intake, MAF. Isnt considered pretty much stock? I consider it pretty much stock considering it has a crappy 2.5 turbo back and a MBC. Thats when I ran the 13.42, I now have a couple of other things done.

Sorry ## right. The only problem is that dsmtimes only shows his speed and time. The website is gone, So i cant find any info.

You just actually typed that didn't you... ROFL:tease:

Yes I did. ## laughing at me because of what? Two after market parts on a car with a load of stock parts that runs in the mid 13's?

Those 2 aftermarket parts make a huge difference buddy. Cars are either stock or modded and guess what category you're in? So it doesn't matter if you ran a 12 second 1/4, YOU ARE NOT STOCK. Hope this clears things up. Now had you said, you were stock besides an A/F gauge and a turbo timer then I would agree with you, but an exhaust and mbc...

Not quite?

You guys are naive and both own slow cars in relation.

The 1G is LIGHTER, it has more potential PERIOD.

That's not even a debate. That's also not even considering how much more potential the 6bolt block has than the 7bolt. Lets not start this debate, its not one you have the slightest chance of winning.

Brent Raus car is about as much of a DSM as it is a Galant VR4 or an Evo, he could put what ever body over that tube chasis he wants... There are maybe 3 or 4 top class 2Gs and like 20 1gs all within that 8s and better barrier.

Hell, next you'll be convincing everyone ot go FWD because Kiggly is faster than Jeff.

And to the guy with the Tird Gen eclipse.. just stop it.. :tease:

I'm not saying a 2g has more POTENTIAL, just that the fastest DSM happens to be a 2g. I do agree that stock for stock a 1g blows a 2g out of the water (I own both). As far as 6/7 bolt, I'd say enough people from both sides have proven each one to stand its own very well.

Way to get off topic though. :applause:

You're absolutely wrong. Enough people have proven that the 6 bolt is FAR superior to the 7 bolt. Please don't waste either of our time putting your knowledge of the platform or its history up for ridicule.

The 1Gs are lighter and have the 6bolt head which for larger setup has proven to be better for all out power (2g heads are superior in flow and for anything other than balls to the wall racing) the 6bolt block has less quirks and even in stock form holds more power and does so much more reliably.

The fastest Stock body DSMs, as in, legit road cars, are ALL 1Gs. Out of the top 10 like 1 is a 2G and he is pretty far down that list.

I didn't say it as a means for debate. It was a statement of fact. I am not the one who derailed the thread off topic. We can now return to the regular discussion at hand. Either of you want to humor me and discuss this further, feel free to PM me. :shhh:

my stock 2g ran 7s last nightROFL.
