Got a CRAZY idea a while back

Just like the title says...a while back I ot a crazy idea. "Whats that idea Aurora?" you might ask. Well...I got the idea of making my 1g into a convertable. Not sure how it would look...or if it would even be possible. But the thought came into my head one day and I was wondering what you guy's opinion on this is. Keep in mind the chan ces of me doing this are slim to none. But its an interesting idea you gotta admit. So go gimme your input, and try not to be too awfully brutal.

You might start with researching the targa tops they had in europe?

Personally, I think it would look horrible. I remember seeing a couple PS's of convertible 1Gs and it was nasty. But then again, I don't like convertibles at all anyway.

Ohhh...alright, that's what I thought. Looked a little too smooth and realistic to be a PS. That is a pretty nice design, though...I really like the large humps behind the headrests, very sporty and even a little ahead of it's time.

Sorry, I've just never seen that before. I'm still a bit of a n00b to DSM's. I know a decent amount about them, but not as much as I know about Supra's, Maxima's, 300ZX's, etc.

theres a purple 1g eclipse or talon convertable w/ roll-bars roaming around the gallerie photos sumwhere you just gotta find it

My idea on the matter to make it somewhat economical is to put a roll cage in with the bars on top running right where you want your splice then you weld the roof to the roll cage so it's waterproof and retains it's rigidity. Next you add latches to the middle section and corasponding ones to the roll cage so it latches down in the same way a Del Sol roof does. It wouldn't be as drastic as that concept car but it would be strong, you would have more chassis ridgitity instead of less and it would be easy to pop off and throw in your trunk.
To drop the whole back would deffinately take some time and money and if you didn't reinforce the chassis it would flex like a hot pancake over a wet cat.

I give it props on originality mostly but sum of those pics don’t look that bad in my opinion , i don’t know who owns it, I got it from the galleries awhile back in remembered I had it when I was reading this thread
i like the concept alot thow bet it would have looked bitchin modded out

That purple 1g looks like it is a hardtop. that is not a bad idea and it would almost look identical to stock. now i think a softtop 1g would look horrible.

I agree totally. A soft top would look bad enough to make me vomit ! But a hard top would look nice! Reminds me of my moms old Triumph Spitfire hardtop convertable! haha Still miss that car. But that yellow 1g up there is HHHOOOTT!!

I know! that yellow 1g is awsome, i'd chose it enyday over an RX-7 or Supra. LOVE IT! sorry its alittle off the subject thow but i thought since everybudy was talking about customizing and original stuff it would maby give you a eaven more "krazyer" idea. Glad you like it thow

i am sorry but the painted rims have got to go. That the only thing i dont like about the concept car... I like the 2 humps in the back. I am not even gonna ask what kind of body kit is on the yellow one but it looks cool.
