Sorry for such a noob post but I'm just getting back into dsm's after selling mine over 4 years ago. Just wondering what's a good price for a used 6-bolt motor?

Depending on conditin, mods, and who buys it you're looking at between 600-1000 bucks for the longblock.

I was also wondering the same thing. I have found a few running complete 6 bolt 4g63 for $800-1000. These motors are stock. I was wondering if that is an alright deal as I really need to get one to drop in my new Laser project!!:sneaky: If you want to find a complete motor go to google.com and search 'craigslist 4g63'. it will come up with many more results instead of going to craigslist site and actually searching around locally.

Well I'm basically looking for a stock 6 bolt longblock. I was planning on getting one through our local junkyard and I work for a dealer so I get a discount ordering things through them so I was just trying to get an idea of what would be a good price.

I actually no longer have the 2G, this has been my first time on the forum in years thus I have not updated my profile but I'm actually looking to source a 4G63 for a Mirage.

Ya it really does depend, i know somone that got 2 complete longblocks for $600 (with both mani's and turbos)

sorry to bring this thread up but i passed up a 6bolt that had 150,xxx mi for $225. it had a nasy leak and looked pretty beat but it was complete. should i have taken it?

did it supposedly run ? It was a complete longblock? did it include intake mani ? Id say thats a good price. A leak is super easy to fix when the motor is sitting no a stand.

it was said to be running and it was complete. just showed at the junkyard. i just didnt have the tools or the man power/money to get the motor out and they wanted 100 to take it out. i ###### should have found a way tho?

My buddy bought his out of a junkyard for $550. I guess they didnt know what they had. He ended up building it anyway.

Sorry to thread jack again, but what would ya'll consider a good price for the short block assembly? I have all the parts, all the machine work is done... I had a quote of $400 to assemble and another quote of $1500 to assemble and install.

that's about average, I paid $800 on a performance build, so $400 to stock spec isn't bad at all. Traditional rates for installing an engine is about 800-1000, so that's about right. I guess now you can see why doing stuff yourself pays off :)
