Good piston/rod replacement?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Its not bad, I have gotten 2 seperate sets at times.

1. Set was nicely marked and everything. But had the wrong pistons......
2. Set was not marked at all * showing matching caps* still had incorrect pistons.
3. Finally settled for a different set of pistons. Which I got along with some shady rings.
4. Finally got a real good set of rings.
5. took 3 months to get my order right.
6. Never bought from again.

I have a review on them in the vendor section. Should check it out.

One thing I found out is, First guy said that HE would be doing the machine work himself that day.
Called the next day, other guy is like WE OUTSOURCE all are machine work, which is why you didn't get correct stuff.

I understand being busy, but just telling me what I would like to hear isn't always the best way to handle things.

I could not find anything on ebay. Spent about 15 minutes (or more) searching and still nothing. Got a link?

So they sound really unreliable. I did buy a 1g BOV from them for $140 (new) still seemed a little pricey for a 1g.

As far as what Bryan said, he is correct, I typed it in google and there is thee exact same set they sell.
As far as your 1G Bov, you could have bought 10 used ones.

Pretty much everything they carry can be found by typing it in ebay.

A little off topic, but about a month and a half ago I bought a d rear cv shaft from them. Swapped on my inner joint and new boot and tried getting it in. Ya there's no way you can run the rear sway bar with the outer boot that comes on the cv shaft. The end link is shoved a good .5-1" into the boot.

I tried contacting them over this to continuously get no response or any sort of help, new boot, etc. I waited over 2 weeks and finally just purchased the correct boot myself.

I won't buy from them again, I've heard too many stories similar to mine.

We havea vendor reveiw section for this exact reason. Last time I looked there, was one positive review and that was the first guy who didn't buy anything. There is even a review from a guy at,SIM that used to work there. Just, reading his, review should have been enough to warn anyone away.

Ebay is right you could have bought plenty used 1g bov for that price

Ok I'll say it,since noone else is gonna.
You encountered crank walk,,yet you want to buy a
7 bolt. Yes it will be cheaper to install it now.
But in the long run.
6 bolts are a plenty,a little more expensive to swap it.
But you hear all the time 2g guys say I swapped in a 6bolt.
You never hear a pre92 guy say I swapped in a 7bolt.

My 2.3 cents

2G 7-Bolts have different mounts. Swapping in a 6 Bolt is a pretty decent process to undertake.

He could have his engine running in 4 hours if he just swapped in another 2G 7 bolt.

As far as crankwalk it doesn't effect every 7 bolt. I have had 7 bolts with 180k on them with minor thrust wear.

I have had 6 bolts that for some reasons seem to spin rod 3 all the time.

I would just say for Low-Mid HP 7-Bolts are fine.
If your going all in, then a 6 bolt would be the way to go.

Yea, I do not plan on making a "race car" anytime soon. I may upgrade the turbo and FMIC but thats about it. Also as of right now i'm not making enough money to drop in a 6 bolt. I'm a pizza hut cook so money is an issue right now. When I get a better job, then the fun begins.:hellyeah:
In the meantime, someone please Drop me a link for some pistons .020 bore

2 Swapping in a 6 Bolt is a pretty decent process to undertake.

It only takes an extra 10 minutes to cut off the corner of the engine mount in order to put the 6 bolt in a 2g. Everything else is pretty much bolt together. The only other thing that you would need to do is wire in the cam angle sensor, and possibly swap plug wires and injector wires depending on what ecu you are using.

Was not aware of that. I thought you had to get custom mounts.

Nope. The front and rear roll stops are bolted to the transmission, so you don't have to do anything, but remove the 1g brackets from the block. For the driverside mount you just have to take the 2g mount bracket and cut one corner off of it to clear the water pump, than it bolts right to the 6 bolt. From there it bolts in just like the 7 bolt came out.
