Good intercooler for around $300????

I would like to see where I called the EVO intercooler a "piece of crap." My point is that it cost $700 for the core which is absurd when you can get a core of equal or better quality for cheaper.

Actually, I stand corrected on that remark. You didn't actually call the EVO FMIC crap. I guess I just don't understand how or why you would make comments about cost-vs-performance, given the amount of money you must have spent on all the things you have done to your car, to run a 14.003? With a GSX and about $200-$600 you could easily be running in the 13's with a daily driver. My '95 GSX ran 14.963 bone stock, and with only a BOV and a manual boost controller(total cost = $97.00) I ran a 14.066. My current '91 GSX with only a K&N filter and increased boost will right with you all day. Total invested $43.99+tax. It seams to me the best bet is on the initial investment not the aftermarket stockpile you can acrue.

But once again...what's best for one person may not be best for another.

No sarcasm intended in this post.

I do like your car, It is very clean and well taylored. It looks like you have been careful in the choice of items you did install. I read your list of Items and I know you could have spent a lot more on other items that would give not add'l performance. It that, I commend you. I am one for not spending more money than you need to gain the max perf. I do take pride in the look of my vehicles as well. This means that I want a part that looks as good as it works. That makes it hard to find the best pos price sometimes. That FMIC looks just right in your car. Perfect fit.

Well the 14.0 is only at 15psi, but you got to remember this a WWD car. I cant get traction for the life of me in 1st or 2nd gear, but I am trapping at 103 at only 15psi. I also ran a 14.1 @ 104 so it is making the power, I just cant put it to good use. I am actually considering selling the GST and swapping what I can to a GSX. The car from a roll is pretty nasty but not a drag king. I am going to get some different tires and run some race gas and more boost. Maybe mid or low 13s but that might be a stretch.

Not trying to be asshole about the whole Intercooler thing just that I could see money being spent other ways then a expensive EVO core but a EVO core would work nicely especially on a 14b-16g car.

Just want to say thanks:) and I appreciate the remarks made. I guess the whole Intercooler thing got blown outta proportion. I guess we should try helping each other instead of bashing each other. Good luck with the car and hopefully you can see some better tims than I have.:dsm: :talon: :laser:

If youre self sufficient then building a FMIC isn't that expensive, relative to a greddy or spearco ready to be installed. The cost is in the welding of the end tanks and the welding and powdercoating of the plumbing. And do you absolutely have to have powder coated piping?

E-Bay Spearco FMIC. Those things are beautiful. My buddy got one awhile ago.

i like those spearco ones too they are selling on ebay....unfortunetly the dsm shop here in houston i was talking to said it would take alot of fabrication. Id be looking at $300-500 just for the install.
