1991 EAGLE TALON

KELLY_SPRINGFIELD
KELLY_SPRINGFIELD BALANCE SHAFT
GOODYEAR
GOODYEAR BALANCE SHAFT
BECK/ARNLEY

Also, Since I am going to be replacing that, is there anything else thats recommended to do??

Thanks

Dave

most would recommend getting an OEM timing belt...do a search on that...i got oem just to be safe... things you should do when changing your timing belt: replace water pump, pulleys, timing belt tensioner...also if you want this would be a great time to get rid of your balance shafts..i would recommend doing that..plus you wont have to worry about that belt then

Sorry for my ignorance, but removing the balance shafts sounds like it would have negative impact on the engine performance... Or are they just simply not needed?

The balance shafts are there to keep the engine from trying to shake and move too much under running conditions, are they not?

Just curious.

Thanks...

they are just there to make it so you dont feel the vibration on your butt...and honestly after i took mine out, i didnt notice a difference...but its nice to know that my belt wont snap and take out my timing belt

Should give you some information on why.

OEM belts are good. Gates belts from NAPA might be even better. After seeing the short-term wear from a Kelly-Springfield or some other cheapie tbelt from Advanced Auto on a different car of mine, I'd never use one again.
