Hello, i have a 1990 eagle talon tsi that i am building. i would like to go all out on it and get dsmlink and a gm Maf. My big question i have is how do I set it up and what do i all need to set up the maf? right now i currently have the stock maf and iat and the stock air filter tube with all the electronics and honey comb deal on the inside of the filter. i have seen the Gm maf that dsmlink has to offer and i would like to just get peoples opinions, thoughts, and Experiences with this. also recommendations for injectors too. i want to be able to run 18 to 20 pounds comfortably. i have a new turbo set up from forced performance that can easily handle that, but i am looking to make my car into a quick street car so i can send some civics home crying:sneaky:

Thanks for your time! :D

I don't have any experience with the gm maf cable that you can get for dsmlink. I do run a 3" gm maf with a maf translator on dsmlink v2. That setup is actualy fairly easy to get a base setup. If you use the new software you can have it figure all of the nonboost settings. As for the injectors that really depends on what all the other mods you are doing and how much hp you want to build.

id like to make a controllable 350 to 400 hp. my turbo maxes at about 25 psi. id like to run 18-20.

What turbo do you have? As for the injectors 550's or 650's should do that much. What fuel pump do you have? For 400hp you mayl need a walbro 255 if I remember right.

Hello, i have a 1990 eagle talon tsi that i am building. i would like to go all out on it and get dsmlink and a gm Maf Honestly, if you plan on going with link anyway, I highly recommend a speed density setup. Theyre relatively cheap, and much more accurate/reliable than the typical GM MAF setup(allthough I do like the GM MAFs better than the 2g/evo MAFs). Not only will it be more accurate when tuned properly, it'll also net you more power, and you'll be able to use it for the rest of the time you own the car throughout all of your upgrades/etc.

My big question i have is how do I set it up and what do i all need to set up the maf? There are a ton of different GM MAF/Trans setup FAQs out there, and one on vfaq.com that is for the older generation MAF-t setups. A place you may want to check out is the DSMlink forums. You'll find a MILLION answers to every question you've ever wondered, BUT..... USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION before you start a thread. It'll save you a LOT of razzing

also recommendations for injectors too. i want to be able to run 18 to 20 pounds comfortably. i have a new turbo set up from forced performance that can easily handle that, but i am looking to make my car into a quick street car so i can send some civics home crying:sneaky: This entirely depends on the setup you're running and what your overall goals are. Personally, I like to get injector on the larger side, that way if need be or I get bored, I have some room to grow. Not only that, the bigger the injector the less the chances of a lean condition since you arent going to be pushing the injector past its efficiency/DC maximum. It's also hard to tell what this would be because other than mentioning "an fp turbo" we have no idea what your setup specifics are. BUT, in general you're going to need a bigger fuel pump (wally 255/similar), bigger injectors (I'd recommend 650-750cc), AFPR, FMIC, and a clutch capable of withstanding the mentioned/desired power levels.

Thanks for your time! :D

Edited with my suggestions, and here is a couple more:

If you havent yet(Im sure you have, moreso a just-in-case scenario), go through the car VERY thoroghly and replace the fluids, belts, hoses, and repair any leaks the car has. Getting the maintenance items out of the way is really the only way to ensure the car is going to be able to handle the upgrades you plan to throw at it.

Hope that helps, have a good one!

thanks jake, I had my motor out of my car for a bit there and replaced the waterpump, cam gears, and a new timming belt. I went through everthing and made sure it was good. everything on the motor is buttoned up. I am currently running a 16g on 14psi, I have a wally 255, stock 450cc injectors(for now) and a act stage 3 clutch. the motor has also been gone through and has had many upgrades, both in the block, and in the head. so I know it will handle what I throw down at it. I also am running dsm link v3. I have a brandnew fmic from punishment racing to. my overall goal is to make a respectable street car, but a car that will not disappoint me on the track.
