GM MAF: Requirements

yes blow through is having the maf on the uicp between the tb and the bov. As for your set up yes you could deffinately and easily tune your car to run with the maf/t. As for no point in the afc it could be used but it isnt a necesity to have to make the car run right. If you want to get yoru car tuned perfectly then you will need an afc but you will be able to tune your car just fine with the maft.

The maft is like the afc in that it is a piggyback fuel controller that intercepts the incoming air signal and modifies it. You use a GM Maf (which outputs a different signal than our stock mas) and the maft translates it to match what the signal would look like if you were using the stock mas.

The difference b/w the maft and afc is, the maft bases when it changes maps on load/boost (airflow divided by rpm gives a good estimate of load) whereas the afc uses throttle position to change maps. The maft tunes in increments of 5%, whereas the afc tunes in increments of 1%.
The maft will tune for just about any size injectors if you are creative. If you aren't then it will tune for up to 1250cc/min. With the afc, you are pretty much limited to 660's if you still want to have a decent idle.

You can use both together. Tune first with the maft and then fine tune with the afc, if you have a couple of spots that just aren't working for you with the maft alone.

If you want to do blowthrough, you just put the gm maf in the upper intercooler pipe and it will read the incoming air just fine (I run blowthrough). You can vent like this because you are not loosing already counted air.

check out www.144mph.com/gm.htm to get a good idea for where to mount the maft and some pictures.

Here's where to get the maft: http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/Dy...CCWARE-97XVJHD362&Cc=&ic=050DSMTRANS2G3S&tpc=

I'm also thinking about going with this setup(Blow through MAFT), but I'm wondering if it is overkill. I have the following mods and I'm just looking to get my car into the low to mid 13's:
Ported Head
Ported 14b
Ported 2G Exhaust manifold
Ported O2 housing
2.5" Turbo Back Exhaust w/test pipe
Upper intercooler pipe
Walbro 255
Stock Injectors
Dejon Tool Dual Stage MBC
Greddy Type S BOV
Open Air K&N
Stock Intake Pipe

Check out my profile to see what I have. My car is hella faster with the maft. Of course the real reason for getting it, is I am going to order some 660's soon. It still helps a lot as is though.

That's what we're here for, right? Not a prob. Hit me back with any q's about the maft. I think I was the 1st person to put it on a 95 (spent some time on the phone with mike trying to work out some of the 95 quirks) and the 96's are very similar.
