Okay, I'm a noob I suppose but I really need help with my exhaust.

I have a '98 Eclipse N/T that I bought almost 2 years ago and it has a straight pipe with a 4" "x-type" resonator on the end. It's obnoxiously loud and I just got done paying my third ticket for it. I basically need to know how to get rid of the straight pipe and just go with a normal performance exhaust (burnt tip catback that doesn't sound ricey would be perfect)

My question is: Do I need to completely remove my exhaust from the headers back or is there a way for me to add a muffler + catback without welding? (I can't weld LOL) :|

Note: Another reason I'd like to get rid of it is because I've done a lot of reading and learned that straight pipes can decrease power by a significant amount. As if she wasn't slow enough. :barf:

Just post a photo of your exhaust from under the car so we can understand what you are getting at here. This is going to require welding, no matter how you look at it. Unless you just cut the muffler off, which in most cases makes it quieter. We can get to your options once we understand what this "resonator" is and what you mean by "straight pipe"
