i have my fuel trims all set,all around 100%...now for my highs i cant get anything right.
i have the pte 680's,so they flow 30% more than stock,so i took -30% accross the board on the afc,it was knocking,so i added some fuel, still seen knock at the same place...i am up to about -16%,sometimes i get knock and other times i wont, something just isnt right.i can set it 0% and my o2's hardly move.at -30% my o2's are around .88-.90..at 0% correction is the same damn thing..what is going on here?i am getting really aggravated at this..my boost is set low at 12psi,timing is retarded to 3'btdc.

heres a log i saved when the afc was set -30 all accross, but it doesnt make a difference if its at -30% or -0%,its like its not even working.my lows are set perfect.i am about -8% on the lows, does that sound right for 680's?

i found out from the pocketlogger forums that the optimal o2 for our 90 models is .88-.9. there is a small possibility that your o2 sensor is dying or the knock sensor, because your o2 looks great, the timing is a bit high, but the knock and o2 voltage don't match
any other thoughts from someone else?
edit: phantom knock, perhaps?

Tuning with a narrowband O2 sensor is worthless. Especially on a 1g. Now on a 2g it can provide some helpful information. On a 1g you tune for zero knock, period.

For 680cc injectors, the SAFC should be about -34% provided your 1g is a 5-speed.

What octane gas are you using? Did you install the SAFC yourself? Did you do the "blue wire" mod with the SAFC?

Sounds like you have a wiring problem. The difference between -30% and 0% is huge!

i installed it myself and didnt do the blue wire. like i said i got my lows set good, just my highs i am having a problem with,so i dont think its a wiring problem. if i tune for no knock for one run,the next run shows knock..i am tuning at night and letting the sidemount cool down between runs...

Hey, I'm having almost the exact same problem!! I have the pte 680's and my low's are around -7%, -8% as well....... WTF ?? Plus i'm constantly having to adjust my low setting like once everyday because I can't get my low trim to say at 100%

SO we're in the same boat.........hopefully someone can give us a paddle :thumb:

i have given up for a few days.i was ready to rip apart my car and sell it off...but i am calming down now hehe..anyways i have my lows set nice, just the highs i cant get right.no matter where i set it,it doesnt seem to change,or if it does its very slight.i think i'm just going to get it dyno tuned with a wideband o2..

Well for one I know that O2 voltage on 900s can go lower that .88-.9, i myself am running lean up top and my logger shows me going down into the low low .8s, but a friend of mine was gfetting loads of knock mostly uper rpms due to high timing advance and you also have a good amount of advance, a 2g maf fixed his timing problem so that a thought, but this doesnt explain your voltage numbers, sounds like ur O2 might be bad. Does it fluctuate like it should at idle and during closed loop? Goodluck

oh wow, i didn't realize he was on a smic :p Yeah replace that lil' guy with a supra or FMIC and your troubles will be all better. I didn't realize i was heat soaking until after i installed my FMIC :thumb:

that log looks good??? i am getting knock from 3500 and up. it has been cooler up here and will be for the next few days,i'll try tuning a little then. i didnt think 12psi would heatsoak the smic mount, but i'll take your word for it..i am saving up for a fmic anyways.thanks alot for the help

typical problem with bigger injectors and an afc. your leaning it out too much so your timing is through the roof. find an eprom ecu and get it chipped. thats the right way to do it.

even with knock you are getting a lot of timing. try retarding the base timing and see if it helps and get rid of that intercooler

i personally have observed that with 8 counts it wont retard timing... some cars it will most it won't... ironically i tune for 8 counts becuase thats the most i can get away with... soemtimes ill tune for 12 counts if im using race gas and i need that .1 say if im at 13.00 and i want to break into the twelves...

if you have 8 coutns i think thats a great tune, although i perfer timing over boost...

oh man!!! i see everywhere you should tune for no knock, now its alright to have 8 counts?
the eprom ecu for a 90 seem so hard to come by,and if someone is selling they are getting crazy money for them, otherwise i'd just have it chipped.

Tuning for 8 counts is just plain dumb. I've tuned so many 1g's and they ALL retard timing with knock over 3 counts. It seems like everybody is having issues with timing advance and their safc's lately.
