Hey, I was wondering if I am going to need to purchase new shocks along with the Eibach Prokit lowering springs, I have heard that I do because the car is being lowered. Anyone have a definate answer? Thanks in advance!

Yes you will. If not the car will ride like hell and your stock struts will fail in a hurry. Do it right, get some kyb agx's or koni yellows. Stay away from gr2's as they are just a stock replacement

Bad info. The prokit will work on GR-2's. I used the proline on my stock struts for over a year before they went bad. And before me the kid had cut the springs so they should have already been blown out.

The prokit is only around a 1" drop and GR-2's will work fine. Im running this setup right now and it works great.

Yes. I have Ingalls front and rear camber kit and it helped with my tire wear and the way it rides a lot. Anytime you change your ride hieght you will need to adjust the alignment accordingly.

Yes. This info is copied from RRE's website and may be helpful:

Most tire wear problems are caused by not having an alignment performed after changing the height of the car. As the tie rods travel through an arc with any height change, the toe in of the tires change. This must always be re-adjusted with any height change. Most guys see the camber being negative and think that is the major cause of the excess wear on the inside tires. It is actually caused by the tires toeing out when the car is lowered. This will clean the tread off the inside of the tire faster than anything.

That is a good quote from their site about alignment after changing the ride height of the car. I personally am looking into the Ingalls kit for my car. I have seen them in the $130 range for -1.5 degree to + 1.5 degree and other options as well.

I have the tokico illuminas and springs and i love it. I DD my car and i feels just like stock. Not too stiff or too soft.
WARNING: Its kinda low after the spring sags. but have an almost even two finger gap all around.
Since ill be Autocrossing, ill be switching over to K-sports.

i have the same kit on my 2g with factory replacement shocks. I wouldn't recommend it although it "works." The ride is bad, but you're not going to get a great ride after lowering it ever. The only reason why I still have not replaced the shocks is because i'm going to re-install stock springs soon. A lowered dsm is the coolest looking thing, but it isen't going to get you much performance wise i believe. I did it for looks. Correct me if i'm worng, but i think it will also slow down 1/4 mile times as well (mostly in the 60'). can anyone else second that for sure? :dsm:

Having the car's center of gravity lower will help with all performance aspects (acceleration, braking, cornering). Especially in a FWD like yours, the weight transfer to the rear when launching will be less in a lowered car. The main downside is ride quality and the amount of suspension travel the car has.

1.3" drop. And mine dropped a good 1.5" after they settled, unfortunately. I had to roll my rear fenders with 225/40/18 Kumho ECSTA MX shoes. I wish it was only 1".

I have the pro-kit with GR-2's, and it is great for what i need. I don't race at the track, i have a 1.8 with over 200,000 miles, and i don't drive that many miles during the week. The ride is stiff but not harsh, and lowered just right, not slammed. Good luck! I don't see why you would need a camber kit for just a 1" drop. I had mine aligned after, and the shop didn't say there were any problems with the lowering and camber.

My experience with the Prokit is similar to yours. Eibach claims that they shouldn't sag, but mine did within the first year. I can't say whether this is common or an exception to the norm.

GR-2's and Pro Kits usually end up being a softer ride. KYB AGX's are known to be bumpy. I have AGX's and Pro Kits and wow it slammed my car. I almost tuck in the rear, but I get all kinds of compliments from younger crowds and even the older guys too. Plus I like having the adjustable struts alot better.

To answer someone from earlier, your performance should increase when lowering the car just like one of the guys said earlier.

Make sure to buy the kits to adjust your camber for the front and rear. My major problem is my rear camber leans in alot. I work at Sear's Auto Center, so I put it on the alignment rack to find out how much adjustment I need and will soon be ordering kits for the Front and Rear. Trust me thought, it will definately throw off your alignment because your shortening the ride height and thats what an alignment is all about.

Check your axles every month or so after lowering. Very common to bust the inner CV boots on these cars if they were never changed before. Normally it's the outer ones that go, but lowering puts stress on the inners. Two months after my new suspension setup and mine went, grease all over the bottom of my car.
