I haven't found anything of this subject in any of my searchs, so i'm asking ya'll for some wisdom and advice. I owned a 96 Talon ESi for a year and a half and totaled it. It was auto, I was happy, but I wanted it to be a manual. I LOVED the car though, and all Talons for the most part. However, I now have a 99.5 VW Jetta 5 speed manual. Its okay, but nothing too hot, a few mods, but this car is really expensive to fix let alone mod. There is a 97 Talon TSi AWD that just came up for sale here thats an auto, but CLEAN condition 106K mile. What do ya'll think? I would be willing to wait for a decent manual if I absolutely had to, but I am really wanting to get back in the seat of a DSM. So should I wait till i can afford a decent TSi like this that's manual or go for this one and roll with it? Please help!! Thanks a lot!

Take it for a test drive. And while u are at it, check the steering colum boot fora rip or hole in it to indicate a boost gage has been put in it b4. If its truely a stock auto awd turbo it should be a great car to start modding. Autos are much slower than manuals, especially with a shift kit. They are also much more consistant on launches (building boost at the line baby!) but if its a manual you TRUELY want, then i would wait, check ebay and other web sites for used talon/eclipses/lasers just remember to check the car fully when you go to test drive it (compression and see if the owner was likely to abuse it, and if he bought it new or who he bought it from) all in all... its your car--.... er call... :p hope my advice helped! BTW how much is he/she wanting for it?

WTF WTF WTF

I have an auto 95 tsi fwd and love the car. If you really want to get back in a DSM fast, take it for a drive, then make your decision. I got my 95 pretty cheap and I absolutly love the car. I don't regret going with the auto over 5 speed at all. It's fun when people think the car is slow because its an automatic, then tear them apart.

Good luck
