Well, I've got a delima. I have a 97 GST with a 16g, 680's, smim, fuel rail, afpr, dsmlink, wideband, tubular exhaust manifold, fmic w/ short route, ssqv. I'm planning on pulling the motor out tonight or tomorrow. At that point I will be cleaning everything up really well, checking the clutch/flywheel. But my main problem is should I rebuild my 7 bolt or get a 6 bolt swap? I found a 6 bolt with bad rings, a newly rebuilt head (not sure how "new") and 1g throttle body for 300.00 bucks. I'm thinking about that. I was planning on putting in 2g pistons and new bearings and arp hardware, new gaskets, and all new maintence items. Or I could just rebuild the 7 bolt I have. I'm trying to be very cost effective. As far as goals i'm ###### going to stay with the 16g. I would like to see at most ever 450hp.. I think that is the max with the 16g correct me if i'm wrong. What do you guys think?

Rebuild the 7 bolt. It will be much easier on you, and you wont have to mess with any of the other crap to do the swap. Many of people are using 7 bolts and doing very very well. I think it will cost the same, and be easier on you to just stick with what you have. I am building a 2.4L Stroker from my 7 bolt and I think this is going to be great!

read up on the 6 bolt swap and all that is required. magnus has a great write up on how to do it. for your goals the 7 bolt will do fine as many have pushed 7 bolts that far, so it really comes down to preference and weather or not you think you will be up to it. also there is extensive information on this site about the swap so any questions that you may have were probably already answered.

thanks guys for the quick info. Yeah i have searched and it's just as it was on this post some say 7 some say 6! Really other than the engine mount there isn't much more to a 6 bolt swap is there? thanks
