I have one thousand dollars to put in my 2gnt right now. I have some parts to boost it and the rest would be in my price range. So that leads to my question. It has 210xxx miles and I want to squeeze more power out of it but still be able to trust it. Should I boost? If not, what should I do?

BTW don't tell me to go buy a GSX or GST. I love my car and have way to much blood, sweat, tears, and money in it for that to be an option. :ohdamn:

So I had a turboed 57 trim 420a, I can garentee you will want to do maintance and build the motor before throwing a turbo on it especially on a 210,000 car and a 420a motor at that.

id buy a full engine rebuild kit and do that, then you know you are at a fresh start to do boost if you wish to go that route.

get your head ported, lessen the restriction for future mods.

Haha I love that thread it brings back memories...

wow, i red that article and i would never buy a 420a car LOL. theres just no hope unless you dump ALL your money (10K+) which at that point it goes to what everybody says in this forums for years... just go w/4g63...

As much as the op doesn't want to give up his baby the only way you will ever get any power is to get away from the n/a eclipses.Don't get me wrong I loved mine and even when I boosted it but nothing compares well to just about anything else but those cars.I can tell you to get intake, exhaust, header, or whatever else you can think of but honestly if you wanna keep it just keep on the maintance see how many miles you can get out of it.Don't take that wrong maintance=hp.A well tuned up car runs better then a car that is neglected.

seriously? wtf these guys ask a question and you fill the thread with this? i'm not going out and saying. why spend all your money on a 4 cylinder when you could buy a mustang/camaro and go the same speed in 3rd. this is the third thread i have read in the last 20mins that you've done this. don't get me wrong i love my 4g63. i'm just making a point.

to the op. do all of the regular maintenance before you even think about the turbo. oil, tranny fluid check compression, would hurt to do a leak down test, check all gaskets make sure they arnt brittle/ cracked, check your antifreeze. then dont only check the engine. get yourself tires, check all the hubs, ball joints, tie rods, brakes, shocks. fix any rust issues you may have (### it will spread, and fast) if everything is ok. once that's all set come back and tell us how much you have.

i'm not being mean i just don't want to tell you to go spend your money on some dumb upgrade then you go to the drags and grenade a hub and crash

His questions were answered. So whats your point? He never asked about maintenance, so why are you ranting on about that shit? See my point?

use it to get some rods and pistons for it. prep it for when you will boost it. add a 55 shots, test pipe and headers if you want some extra punch.

You really need to learn to read.

Now to answer the op question personally with that many miles I wouldn't feel comfortable boosting the car with and only 1,000 to spare. Personally I would have to agree with one of the other posters and just make sure you got all the basic maintenance done. Then look into go-fast parts.

I really feel this link should be a sticky.

Mitsubishi Eclipse RS - Report - Import Tuner Magazine

Yep, that's right $1200 for 4hp.... Still want to mod it?

And besides, with 210k miles you should be glad it still runs. If its your only car, i would suggest putting that money into keeping your maintenance up to date.

At least he can look good while going slow :thumb: I'd be saving my money to do something big though, just because you have a little bit of cash doesn't mean you need to throw it into your car as soon as you get it.

Hmm, if not what should i do? With 1k the only option would be to buy bolt ons, which i gave him great info on.
