gear selector pops out of gear

Okay so i have an auto tranny and if i get on it like to merge onto the highway sometimes it kicks my selector out of drive . is there a way to fix this problem or should i just look into a new type of selector.

selector, nope sounds like you transmission is bad, same problem mine kicked out of gear, tranny was bad, no tob, selector, cables, just a bad tranmission.

well i really dont think that is the problem because it only does it on hard acceleration and it actually moves the lever itself. i can then move the lever back into drive and everything is fine. and it only does it when i stomp on the gas. i can also move the lever without pressing the button down into every gear but park.

Have you checked the cable mount on the transmission? There should be no gate on the shifter to keep it from moving from drive to N. The gate is internal on the shift shaft for that, but you should have to press the shifter button down to move it to 2 and 1, and also from N to R and then again to P. Pushing forward from 1,2,D, & N, you shouldn't have to push the button. Can you feel the detents between the positions? Also check your mounts.

i was thinking about mounts i know they are weak. and since you dont have to push the button from D to N i think it may do it when i gun the throttle.. if the mounts are weak it can move the trans far enough to move the selector. Thanks for the advice.
