gauges work but no light

wow, sun is about to set so i turn on my lights, but then i think, nah dont need these on so i turn them back off. Then i look in front of me and i see a car drive by with its lights on, so i think to myself, w/e might as well have them on. Turn the knob over, and the lights come on.........
........and all of a sudden all the lights on the gauge cluster and behind the airconditioning controls dont work. Tried fuse, didnt make a diff. I was going out driving with friends tonight and ned a quick reply!

Check the dimmer switch and it's connections.

wow, just came home b/c my buddy said my rear lights are out too. cops are ### around here and im in the middle of paying off a speeding ticket. I dont need another. im really pissed, this car is starting to be more hassle than its worth. i've heard bicycles are nice in the summer

If your tail lights are out too, than you blew a fuse under the hood that says TAIL LAMP on it.

heres the deal.. since its sat. i had time to take off the rear bulb covers and see whats going on back there. Out of 6 lights on each side, 4 are fully functional. Its the outer 2 that dont come on at all, and are still good bulbs. so, brake lights and blinker lights are good to go. U said there is a fuse for tail lights? i'll go check right now. brb

i had this same problem tonight after i installed my 99 headlights...i have no gauge lights not tail lights...i changed the tail lamp fuse, my tail lights now work but my gauge lights, nor ac lights and stugg dont work...any clues?thanks alot.Shawn
