When i turn on my lights the guage lights wont come on. It is not the fuse and i dunno what else it could be. Please Help!!!

1. Check the tail light fuse.

2. Check the dimmer switch.

Recheck the fuses, I had the same issue happen when my battery died and killed a fuse. Check the ones near the kick panel as well as under the hood.

I checked the fuses under the dash for the gauges and it isn't blown, and I don't know why the dash would be wired to the tail lights.

they're on the same circuit as the tail lights for that very reason (so you know you're tail lights aren't working). did you check all of the fuses under the dash?

hey my gauge lights stopped working, worked for a day then stopped working for good. this is annoying ive checked all my fuses engine bay and interior(dont think that would be problem tho cause they decided to work for a day)
i dont know how to check relays under hood

any other ideas?
anyone have this problem.
how did they fix it
gauges work perfect just arent lit

ohh and if it helps my heater control lightts dont work either but they used to only work 10% of the time.

I had the same thing happen. I thought i checked all the right fuses but I didnt know that they are hooked up to the same fuse as the tail lights. I drove around for 3 days only thinking that the dash lights didnt work. There was a fuse under the hood that had blown that was labled brake lights or something like that and when i changed it, everything was good as new. Dont know about the heater lights only working 10% of the time. That sounds like bad wiring or a short somewhere.

For the past three days I have been trying to figure out why all the lights on my dash have stopped working, including my a/c controls, rear wiper buttons, gauges and cigarette lighter... but all of my warning lights still work like brake light, CEL light and all those...

I was taking the screen out of my dash and then all the sudden it stopped working.... but I figured out the problem with the screen... now I’m getting to the dash lights and notice that my gauge fuse inside isn’t blown but replaced it anyway. Then I went under the hood and saw my taillight fuse was blown? weird then put in another one and then that blew.... so I put in a 20 amp and never had problems with it blowing again.... so now all my running lights work besides my dash lights... including speedo, tach and all the stuff.

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated

so i didnt want to post this in the newb forum but i searched the archives couldnt find anything ....... my guage lights and center console lights are all out ...fuse is good ...and all the wires are good but damn if i cant get them to come on ....so if you have had a problem like this....please let me know how you solved it ....thanks.....

Are your parking lights outside working? and did you check all your fuses dash and underhood with a test light? I always seem to run straight for the labeled fuse of the problem only to somtimes find out that certain things run off of fuses labeled for something else. Im just thinking of past experiences on other vehicles.

hahahah dude i no exactly what ya mean ....most of those fuses ....make something else work .....damn cars are and electrical nightmare....like i can build a damn motor ..but put like 4 wires and a butt connector and some crimpers in front of my ...ill be sitting there like a lab ape

This happened to me the other day.. Tail light fuse blew (or some ligt in the back ;) ). Check that.

having a similar problem only the radio wont come on either, any other ideas other than the dimmer switch?

just tried jumping the rheostat bk/y wire to the bk wire and instantly blew a fuse, thinking about just rewiring and bybassing straight from my parking lamps to the plugs on the back of my cluster, anyone have any ideas as to which wires are for the lights?

Alright... I will try and keep this short, sweet, and to the point with enough details.

I decided to install a sony explode head unit into my car. the previous owner took out the head unit so all i had was wire nightmare from hell. Anyhow through a little testing and fixing the wiring job. the speakers sit like this. front dash right speaker is hooked with right door speaker and such is the same on the left side. the rear speakers are hooked solo to the head unit. After that was done i started testing wires to find a Constant hot for the memory, Ignition Hot for power, and a ground (which i used right behind the bezel of the center section of the dash) I did not hook up the power antenna lead but i may do so later, After it was all hooked up, i turned the radio on and it worked perfectly, so i went for a drive at night. everything worked great for a couple minutes then all of the sudden i lost power to ALL gauge lights and a/c lights. the only lights that function is a button under the knobs for the a/c vent control that looks like a snowflake that turns green when i push it. The Radio has constant lighting while engine is running or turned off with key in ACC position which is normal.

The things i removed while doing this was i disconnected the battery while making electrical connections and while i pulled the ecu to check if it was an EPROM ( :D it is hehe) I plugged the ecu back in and i took the bezel off around the gauge cluster and unplugged all connections, the bezel from a/c and vent control and unplugged all connections. I have done the following things to try and figure out why this happened... smacked the dash LOL, checked the fuses under dash, found 2 wires that were not connected that come out of the harness I checked them for voltage under these circumstances key off engine off, 0.00 volts key on engine off 0.01 volts key on engine off headlights on 0.02 volts.

Wow... this came out ALOT longer than i originally thought. Does anyone have any idea's what to check. I have several things to check such as A. dimmer switch (any insight how to test that?) B. Tail light fuse, and if all else fails... take out the harness for the CD head unit

I will also relocate the ground and pull the gauge cluster to see if i may have caused a loose connection back there.

I really would appreciate any insight or help you folks can provide.
Eric

You probably blew your taillight fuse and possibly the dimmer if you 1) connected either the radios power or ground to the dimmer's black/yellow wire or 2) the radios ground to dimmer's green/white which would instantly blow the taillight fuse.. The dimmer's black/yellow is NOT a power wire even though you may read 12V on it - many make that mistake.
