Gauge Lighting On/Off (Aftermarket)

I have a set of ac autotechnic gauge faces, they rarely work.They were installed before I bought it. It seems like they work at certain times, like they are wired to something that doesn't always have power. For example driving to work at 4:30am They came on right when I turned my car on and turned off just as I was pulling into the parking lot for work, they did that for a week. A couple months before they would only work when leaving work around 9pm. And then they worked everytime for like a week.
My stock gauges still glow behind them.

Sounds like either the relay unit for the aftermarket gauge faces is going bad or the wiring the previous owner did is jacked up and could be coming disconnected. I'd pull the cluster and just redo all the wiring for the gauge faces to see if that fixes it of course verifying the correct power wires were tapped in the first place (see below). If that doesn't work and your set om having them, i'd just get a new set as they are really cheap and easy to install anyway.

Here's where they should tap into depending if they require - or + polarity:


PARKING LIGHTS ( - )........GREEN/WHITE (-)........@ HEADLIGHT SWITCH, GRAY 20-PIN PLUG
PARKING LIGHTS ( + ).......GREEN/WHITE (+).......IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL, HARNESS to REAR of VEHICLE
