No gauge lighting

Okay the other day i bought a blue neon and pluged it in the cig lighter. So i took all the wires and this was all at night and there were 6 wires total 3 with a white line and 3 with a black line so i hardwired the neon to the wires and i blew a fuse i changed the fuse and now my gauges dont light up but my headlights light up. Someone please help i cant drive at night and it pisses me off what a stupid decision someone please help.

if the neon is still wired up disconnect it, sounds like it maybe has a short or is hooked up wrong. Black has been known to also be a hot wire, case in point my rpm window switch black is used for a hot wire. ground is white.
Edit: and just for giggle check to see if the dimmer wasn't turned down, i had that happen once after doing some dash work and was like wtf that night when I turned the lights on........very easy to do when your trying to work in a small space.
