Gauge cluster not working

The gauge cluster in my 92 tsi is not working. I have an msd digital dis2 ignition system and it has a special adaptor to make the cluster work but it keeps going out. It cost 50 bucks to replace too. Is there any way to fix this? And another question do all 1gs have the same power steering setup? I don't have p/s and I need to know what models have what. Thanks.

Sorry I dont know about the wiring problem. The PS is all the same thow. I think there was a 2 peice and a 3 peice pump thow. They have the same mounting and same hoses and lines. You can use any of them with no problems. My old 1990 pump went into my 1994 with no problems and the pump out of my old 1993 went into my old 1990 with no mods at all.

if it keeps going out i would assume that it is a wiring problem so i would check for bad ground/ corrosion or anything like that
