the gas pedal in my 2g is really hard to push.. any ideas on what could cause this.. i checked the throttle at the intake and it opens freely there.. cable also has a a lot of slack in it.. it looks to me like someone made their own bracket at the adjustment on the cable..

could it be a dry cable?
maybe something at the pedal cluster?

Disconnect the cable at both ends and slide it back and forth in the cable housing to see if it moves freely. Make sure the engine is grounded to the chassis, if it's not the electrical system may be using the accelerator cable as a ground path which it shouldn't be.

i had this problem on mine too. Get a brush and some WD40 and clean the cable by the accelerator. It gets full of dust and debris. Also pull the cover off your cruise control box and spray lubricant on the pulley shaft. This will help to prevent the cable from sticking, but you may just be better off replacing the cables.
