Ok, Ive done some searching through the site and found some stuff on surging idle and what to do about it. Me and my bro have been going through the list cleaning pieces, adjusting others and whatnot. At first it seemed to help but now im getting more and more issues.

1) First Ill start with the surging idle. We messed with i believe its the biss(screw on top of the tb) which seemed to even out the idle to where we wanted but after that stuff starting being weird. First off we had the car warm adjusted it how we wanted and drove it around a bit and no problems right. So I leave the car sit for a hour or 2 come back, start it up and it jumps up to 1500 and just stays there. Let the warm up and nothing so I adjust it down and go from there. Needless to say Ive had to adjust the thing a bunch of times now cause the idle keeps deciding to move around.

Then this morning I start the car up, idles around 900 where I left it after tinkering last night so I was like good to go. Drop my little brother off at track practice and head over to the club to get my hour workout in. Every single time I let my foot off the gas say at like a stoplight, or a slow turn into a parking lot the car would surge between like 400 and 700 and die on me. The car was low on gas at this point(filled it up right after my workout) and it didnt seem to try and die on me on the way home but who knows what its going to do when I go to school and then work later today.

2) My other problem is with a sticking gas pedal. Now Ive had no problems with the gas pedal or anything like that untill I started messing the with idle. Didnt really have any issues with it until yesterday afternoon. We where messing with the screw on top of the tb and the bolt on the back of it(facing the firewall) trying to adjust the idle and figure out why it was bucking around when I was in lower rpms. Now whenever Im going from a stop the gas pedal sticks like crazy. I have to fight to push it down, if I get moving a bit either by reving to like 2500 and letting out the clutch or sometimes I can get it to roll forward with just letting out the clutch(car seems to not like doing that when the gas pedal is sticking) then everything drives like normal but every stopsign or light and Im fighting to get the car going again and I just dont know what happened or why.

Any help would be appreciated, me and my bro are going to be messing with this tonight after I get home from work. If you need anymore information about the car Ill try to get it up here as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Lyle

The surging idle sounds normal, mine jumps up every now and then when i am sitting at a stoplight.

My pedal also used to stick. I got used to tapping it before i tried to start off. Now i couldnt tell you if it still does it or not because i got so used to tapping it, it became second nature, and i might still do it. Most DSM's have little quirks that you have to get used to.

Surging idle is NOT normal.

check your throttle cable, a lot of times the rubber sheathing can grab the cable and cause high idle, surging, and sticking.

and of course you should do a leak test, and check your ISC
