Ok, i dont know what is going on here, does anybody elses low fuel light come on when the needle shows it's over, the light will come on between E and quarter tank...is this normal? somebody please help!

If you drive with your fuel tank levelreading just above the E mark, when you make sharp abrupt turns, the low fuel get sloshed around, causing the "level Sensor" to "drop" which activate the light. The light will come on for a few seconds then gradually dims to off completely.
Then it will come on and remain on only at just above the E mark.

I have a walbro 255 lph fuel pump, when I can hear the pump that is my indication to refill the gas tank.

Driving a DSM too low on fuel is not a good thing to do, there is sediment at the bottom of the tank which will be "PICKED UP" A BY THE PUMP. tHERE IS A FILTER AT THE END OF THE FUEL PUMP INTAKE TO FILTER THE SEDIMENT CRAP, SOME OF IT CAN MAKE IT PAST THAT FILTER AND POSSIBLY RUIN THE FUEK PUMP

actually uh mitsubishi's in general have his problem... every mitsu I've owned has had that problem... and 2 ive test drove have the same problem, even a new 2003 lancer had that problem when I test drove that...

I think its a Mitsu in general defect... but maybe its just weird luck...just fill ur tank before it hits 1/4 left... that way u feel like you are paying less at the pump :p

i run mine pretty low, when i fill up i put about 12 gal in, should i do it sooner?

Yes, always refill before needle is on E

I replaced my fuel pump, there was some black moss looking crap at the bottom. I cleaned as much as I can.

When i put my 255 in, i poured a gallon of carbeurator cleaner in the tank and i let it soak overnight. Then, i rinsed it out with water (with rust inhibitor additive), and the inside of the tank looks like it's new! no sediment at the bottom of my tank.

In my truck, the gas light comes on when there is 5 gallons left, or when it's at approx. 1/8 of a tank. The gas gauge can fluctuate up to 1/4 incriments at a time based on movement. Whenever i stop at a stoplight, it can show me having 1/2 tank of gas, but whenever i take off from that stoplight, the gas gauge drops all the way to E and the fuel light comes on until the gauge rises back up.

This would only apply to floating sediment, which you won't be seeing much of in gasoline. Nor will you have much in suspension. Actually, if you aren't filling out of a bucket on the ranch, you won't be getting sediment, as it's filtered in the pump at the station- they no more want the gunk in their tanks going through their pumps and measuring equipment than you want it in your motor.

The fuel tak capacity is 13.5 gallons.

2.2 gallons should get you to the nearest gas station when the light first comes on. Do not wait for the light to come on to refill. The light is a reminder that you WILL need to refil soon before gas tank is "completely" empty

my gas light never came on till i was like just on or hovering above the E on the gas guage, and even then i drove home then to the gas station like 20 miles after the light came on with out a problem. but usualy i always fill the second i hit quater tank
