Gas leak/ tank removal

So my gas tank has a leak around the top, needs to be removed. do i have to take the drive train out, i am all wheel drive. what is the easiest way to get the gas tank out?

Yes, you have to remove the drive shaft.

But check if your fuel pump unit and fuel gauge unit gaskets (under back seat) aren't the cause first, if you haven't already.

If the tank itself is leaking: There was a recall for leaking tanks for at least 95 AWDs, check if your 98 is affected too.
