Hey dudes i have a 90 talon tsi bone stock. I recently changed the fuel filter and now it seems to be thinning my oil and the oil smells like gas. Any reasons for this? Before the filter swap it did not do this. Thanks for any advise.

Hi Sacline-

How was the car running both before and after the filter change? Did you change the filter because it was not running well? About the only thing I can think of is you have a bad injector that is running one cylinder extremely rich and the rest lean- I'd pull the plugs and look for a black fluffy one. Either the old filter was plugged to the point of restriction (and the new one is allowing full fuel pressure), purging the air knocked out something that was already marginal, or it was completely coincidental. Either way I'm thinking injector, and you might find it before your pistons are damaged in the other holes.

Back to (wparks) how was the car running before you ever changed your fuel filter/why did u change it? you may have had a bad injector the whole time, and before your old fuel filter was not flowing nearly as much as the new one and now it is only highlighting your problem?
