I have a Galant GSX sitting in a neighbors backyard and am curious as to what the difference is between the VR4s and the GSX's. The only thing that I am holding on to from 1ga GSX is the engine. Is it just a straight swap out from that engine to the 4g63?

What year is it?

I have 90 that I am piecing together. It seems that lots of the parts are the same. The motor will bolt right in.

The trans is different than a DSM/GVR4. It is a weaker W5M31, and the rear end ratio is a 2.80, not a 3.55 like a dsm.

You will also have to add a couple wires to the harness for the airflow sensor, and the knock sensor. As well as run a turbo ecu, injectors, and wire in an injector resistor pack.

The GGSX is kind of a rare animal, get that bi*** goin!

Haven't really asked any Q's about it yet, it has just been sitting there for 2+ years. I could keep my trans, xcase, and ECU back from my GSX. Never wired much of anything but I'm sure I could figure it out. Does it have the 4G63 factory with the different trans?

go ask the guy about it and get some pics of the engine an interior an exterior. what you waiting on?LOL

Money money money! Will inquire just for you guys, even if I don't buy it

Only difference is that the gsx is non turbo. Might also be a single cam.

haha, thats a pretty big difference that includes lots of smaller ones. Also, there are no sohc GGSX's. Do some research before you post about a car you know nothing about.

The GGSX has a Dohc 4g63 in it. Just a plain old n/t 4g63.

The trans is externally the same as a regular AWD DSM trans, the internals are different. Its a W5M31, where a DSM has a W5M33. I have had mine apart, and the gears are very similar to a DSM, the main difference is that the input shaft uses ball bearings instead of tapered roller bearings, and the center diff is driven off of 4th gear instead of 3rd on a dsm. Which is why it has a 2.80 rear end gear.

Mine is a 90 and has a 22spline Tcase, and it swaps with a DSM one. You could bolt up a DSM trans, but you will have to swap the rear diff for a DSM/GVR4 one with a 3.55 ratio.

It uses a regular turbo DSM clutch/flywheel, but you can also put a n/t fwd clutch flywheel in it.

Mine also had a 90 style shifter in it, and a 91+ shifter and cables swapped right in.

The electrics are goofy, as mine is a 90, and uses a 90 CAS, but uses a 91+ dsm power transistor, coil pack, and ECU.

You can use the vfaq for turboing a n/t dsm as a basic guide to get the wiring done. Its pretty simple actually.

Hehe, no problem. When you've had one for 10 years, its kinda hard to not know much about them.
If you pick it up let me know if I can help at all.

+ 1 to pic's :hellyeah:

Ill get some pics up when I get a bit farther along.

Cool feature that mine has: Two color instrument cluster lighting, press the button and it changes from amber to green!

Here are the pics of my Galant GSX,
