galant gsx trans

ok so my trans started to whine just a little, and i get downtown and it made a really bad grinding noise and poped out of gear. i pull over and look at the shift linkage it looks ok so i try shifting from 1st to 2nd, its kinda hard to move and then its not, so i try to make it home it doesn't want to stay in 1st or 2nd without poping put of gear and in 3rd and 4th it just wines?

i ask the qustion on galant vr4.org.

i got some good answers and some bad ones. ok so the car is a 90 galant gsx the po did a turbo conversion, it has a 14b 550 inj. walbro 190 fp, 2g maf,c.o.p ign.fmic,safc. so maybe him putting the turbo on it,it found the weak spot. so now i'm f8&6d try to find a new trans and rear end.


so do i try and find a n/t tranny or do i swap a turbo trans in so it well take longer to break.

im pretty sure your syncros are bad if you are planning on doing more to the car i would suggest getting a sheperd trans or a tre trans I think the first gen eclipse trans will bolt right in

If you have a 4g63 (which you do) than the VR4 tranny will do you just right...if you're not sure due to the money, buy it anyways and put it in and smile! than add a turbo and BOOM...you almost gotta GVR4...
