G60, possible over oiling problem?

Hey guys, I searched little bit on oil restrictors for turbos. I am currently feeding my SBR G60 from the head with no restrictor just a -4AN braided line. I know that SBR turbos have a shitty rep, but I got this thing for a really amazing deal, and the wheels, housings, were in amazing shape. The turbo has no shaft play, but the other day I pulled the intake off and there was an alarming amount of oil in the intake. Odd thing is this car does not smoke at all, I am thinking at WOT it is possibly seeing to much pressure? I want to use a restrictor on it but I am worried that I will restrict too much oil and fry the bearings. I really don't want this turbo to blow, because as of right now I have been surprisingly happy with it considering the fact that I paid 120 for that turbo.

Also when I was searching I saw a post about 2 different types of restrictors, "Pressure restrictor" and "volume restrictor" what does a volume restrictor look like?


P.S. This car has no balance shafts and idles at 25PSI.
 
The turbo has no shaft play. I did find a thread with someone saying to use a .100 restrictor with a G60, I am just really worried about starving it of oil. For the price I got this turbo for I really don't want it to Blow :(

Oh and I am running a 10AN drain, I don't think it was kinked I have the car apart now so I will double check!
 
A .075-.100" restrictor is ideal for that turbo when sourced from the filter housing. I don't think I'd want to use one when sourced from the head, however. The concept of a restrictor is to limit volume and/or pressure, and the head source does not give too much in either category.

You got a great price on the turbo- perhaps it came from a car with a bad engine and was contaminated from dirty oil or something like that. Perhaps the seal groove was full of shit and was just waiting for you to put the turbo to the test before it started to smoke. These are the reasons many guys like to get their used turbos from unknown sources rebuilt before they're installed on their own cars.

I know it sucks pulling the turbo back off the car, but it would be worth me looking at before you run the turbo into the ground, beyond repair.
 
I have thought about sending it to you, I recently replaced the head on the car and am about to start it up, I need it to drive around this week to make sure I don't have an oil leak from either the oil pump or water pump, but I won't be pushing the car. I will let you know, since you charge 150 for a rebuild, it will still be way better than buying another turbo. I will let you know!

I got the car back together, and I checked the oil pressure at the head, and it is at 9-10psi at idle. Which I am assuming is a good pressure?
