FWD vs. AWD

I currently own a 91 GST. I've had her for almost a year now. It's a Georgia car and it just saw it's first winter just now. She couldn't handle it. Anyways, I found a couple of AWDs for 3k each. One is a 92 GSX, the other a 91 Tsi AWD. I can probably get the money for the AWD. What I want to know is should I keep putting money into the FWD (800 so far just to keep it running) or should I take the next step to an AWD. Post replies. I am undecided.
