the trans(stock2g fwd) and axles is out and has a 1/4'' hole in the bellhouseing also two bad axles so while there out i want to upgrade so i was considering 3 options heavily. first the awd trans in a fwd. second equal length shafts. third the welding the differential.
my ? is why or why not i should do any of these thigs or what other setups have i overlooked? and what else i need to do this one?

You should check out this thread and you will be able to see what things we all run. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drag-strip/196598-where-fwds.html. With my setup I'm running a stock trans with quaife LSD, diaqueen mr fluid and Terhune race works cryo treated race axles. Clutch setup is spec stage 3+ but with a solid hub full faced disc, along with the spec aluminum flywheel. So far this setup is doing amazing at keeping the power down and reacts perfect when launching at 5250 w/10psi boost.

My 2 cents.. Each car specific purpose is different and each setup is different, whether it be a dd car, road racing, drag car, etc. Dont rely on DSMtuners, contact directly trans builders as they are going to advice you way better than most ppl here do. DSMtuners are full of cheap ebay knockoff parts car ppl and most have no idea how a car trully works, though there are a few here that know and do help, stay away from DSMtuners ppl performance tips. Youll have a better understanding of what you might need and want if you directly contact a trans builder as theyll guide you to your particular needs. DSMtuners is a good forum and the best one to date, but its infected with ppl who have no car skills and knowledge who think they know cars and think that using cheap ebay knockoff parts will reach their engine 500+hp.. DSMtuners is aight, but after a while it gets old once you realize what kind of "ricers" the forum is infested. If you want to have a better understanding of what you want just contact those profesional tuners, fabricators, and mechanics who are in the automotive DSMs industry..

You said that, twice actually. Maybe if you dont have anything beneficial to add to this thread you can find another to pad you post count in.

But, equal length shafts seems like an obvious yes. Stronger with less torque steer.

Welding the diff will make the car un-streetable. Would have to be a dedicated track car for this to even be an option.

Its not that I dont have anything beneficial to say, dont get me wrong, DSMtuners is the best DSM forum to date, Im just telling the guy whos looking for an opinion on trans stuff, he would be better calling a trans builder than relying on DSMtuners for help and advice.

Its up to the guy what he wants to do. He asked for advice and that is my advice.

i am going to a professional for his opinion but i would like to ask him the right ?s also im willing to here what people have to say about the ANSWERS TO MY ?S

also more to the point i was getting at is there any down side at all to the equal length shafts?
if i do weld the diff how un-streetable is it and if its not an option at all whats the next best thing?
most important ? to me is the awd trans swap(still going to be fwd) for the gear set and strength but are there down sides to this swap?
my planS are for a summer street/STRIP car.

As for a front diff look at a quaife, I heard they were the best. Welding the center diff really comprimises your steering going around corners.

Running an awd trans changes the gear ratio. So with that youll have to run a larger slick. The half shaft is a good idea just dont forget to grab the driverside awd seal to go with the shaft. I would not weld the diff on a street car. My fwd race car has a welded diff and its a pain to turn at times. It put so much stress on the axles and suspension. Last time I was turning around my car it put so much stress on the suspension it popped the alignment bolt on the driver side outta place. I would reccomend spending money on a good front diff. I ran a quaife on the street for many years and it was a great choice. Loved the way the car performed.

I ran a stock 95 FWD tranny with the stock axles with no problems. Made 680whp through it. A welded diff is a bad idea cause if you break an axle the car will pull one way hard! I just don't think a built tranny is necessary for a FWD car. Its more in the driving style to keep the drive line together.

Thats just my opinion based on my experiences.

The 2G trans have the stronger gearset and bigger diameter axles. But laying down 680hp and running hard down the track quite a few times are a totally different story. And at some point you have to have a welded diff or spool. Think of it like this, if a welded diff or spool was so bad then why are all the outlaw honda cars running spools? We are talking 170mph+ cars here.

I really wish I could get a good deal on a 2g fwd trans to run instead of this 90 trans ive got.
