FWD Tranny options for 1G

Well i have a 90 laser which i just redid the engine, so i now figured i redo the tranny. I heard the the 90' fwd tranny's are weaker and i also wanted to add a LSD, But a helical setup and it looks like Quaife is my only option since Kar King doesn't make theirs anymore. With a rebuild and a Quaife LSD it should cost me about $2000 which is Exactly how much i have. So my question is since the 90' FWD tranny's are weaker and i heard the 91-94 FWD tranny's are stronger.
Which one should i get and what exactly would i need to swap to the 91-94 trannys? All i heard is that which ever tranny u get, u should get the same yr shifter cables and shifter.
Would i need the change the axles too or could i use my 90' axles?

If anybody knows of a cheaper helical lsd than the Quaife,please let me know.
Oh and the ppl i would have rebuilding my tranny is Dogbox Racing.

shepherd trans. can build the heck out of an awd tranny and actually convert it to use in your fwd. thats what i had him do for my 90 laser RS since i didnt plan on the awd conversion. just get ahold of him and talk over your options with him.

how much did it end up costing u and what did u need for the conversion, i have heard of that option but i also think it's more than the amout of $ i have. Becuz i also want to have an LSD and than alone in is gonna cost me around $1200, i don't trust inserts.

well buddy the shep trans is a really good setup

is the website look on there he makes the dogbox tranny and it is really great i trust his setup (his car has over 1000 hp) so yea i would trust his trannys

but the money you are going to spend on the sheptrans is worth the money

i know Sheps trans are good. What i was saying is that i don't trust inserts. Especially for a DD. Anyways no ones really answering my questions. I'm talking about a FWD Tranny, the awd tranny conversion i heard is good it's just gonna end up costing me more, thanks for mentioning it though ### i know u were trying to give me a better option.

just get an ipt tranny iv heard there better fwd tranny than shep. but is it auto or manual? I have a 91 that Im just about done building and its fwd auto and going to find out how much the tranny can hold but going with ipt built here soon. I also have an awd but this isnt the point. But i think the only diffence is the linkage in the tranny from a 90 to 91

so if you wanna put a tranny off a 91+ all you would need to do is mess with the linkage thats what my buddy had to do.

im saying he makes FWD trannys that you send to him to get rebuilt for the same price and with the same quaife lsd

was his car a 90 also becuz from what i read u need to change shifter cables and shifter from a 91+models. So i could keep the same axle i have too? I'm not sure if the spline from the axles changed from the 90 compared to the 91+ models. i did hear something about thicker axles on he 91+ but i dunno if that refers to ONLY AWD.

yeah his was a 90 yes i forgot about cables becase linkage changes but other than that should be the same. I would just use axles from a 91 anyways instead of the 90's
