FWD problems autocrossing

Hey guys. I'm not a total noob to dsm's as a whole I've done plenty of research. Due to some unfortunate money I was only able to pick up a 94 GS. It does have the 1.8 and I know it is slow and has no handling compared to the AWD turbos.
So, I am taking up autocrossing this spring with my dad. He has a 1998 BMW Z3 with a supercharger. I know it beats me in everything and by a whole bunch. I am going out there with him and since I've been repairing this car over and over again I don't have much money to upgrade this thing. This car is just for beginning, to learn the basics, for now. I don't wanna buy a new car and I don't want the whole bit on being pointless. I already know what I have planned for the future.
Now that I have already wasted some of your time I am limited on money and want to know what I should do suspension wise for this summer. It is completely stock and was thinking about struts, sways, and bushings for now. Is that a good place to start or what I need the constructive feedback please.

well your not going to get much more out of that engine without some work, so your going to have to deal with that. For the suspension i would do the usual get a nice set of springs or coilovers, some nice struts to compliment them, get a good set of sway bars front and rear, shock tower braces front and rear, bushing set if you want to go that far, and also get a good set of lightweight rims with some really good tires on them. After all that if you want some more pep out of the engine i would suggets investing in a healthy shot of N20 (a good 50 shot or so) just for when you need that extra go around the track.

If you do all that and get it set up properly, with some weight loss you could have a nice little handleing monster

If you want to be competitive, don't change anything from stock and stay in the stock class. Just get the stickiest tires you can afford.
