I curently have a pt 5031 turbo and it is a bit lagish for autocross but i love the power it offers on pump gas. My question is would the dual bb model spool quick enough or should I go to a 16g?

Depends on the style of autox track. Do you have a lot of long straight or mostly quick corners. EVO 3 16g is a great turbo for autox but might run short if you have a lot of long straights.

Greg Collier, raining dsm auto-x champ, runs an FP3052. He runs a fully built 2.4L race block and he says he loves this turbo for its quick boost response and gobs of power it creates. He posted that only running something like 14 pounds of boost he is puching out 400 horsepower. He is a auto-x champ and knows what he is doing so that would be the turbo i would go with if you have a stroker. If you are still running a 2.0 setup you would probably want to consider either a dual bb 50 trim or evo3. These are proven turbos that put out a lot of power and are a lot cheaper to use because you dont have to get a vband down pipe. Good luck with your choice!

He is still running a stock 6 bolt so that turbo will do no good and will be very laggy. Remeber though, boost is just a downshift away. So if you are autoxing, lag shouldn't really be an issue because you should always be in a gear that keeps you in boost.

Yikes OMG

Greg Collier does not run autocross. He roadraces his DSM, which is a whole different ballgame. His 2.4 race motor and FP 3052 is pretty much the best transient response setup out there. But again, road race, not autocross.

I think a stroker motor would be a great way to achieve what you want, but at about 5 times the expense of a new turbo, I would probably not choose that option.

Talk to Mavisky about his 18g as he is a big Autocrosser. I would look into ball bearing 50 trims, or a small 20g, or 18g mitsu. These should keep the top end (all are CAPABLE of almost 400 awhp) while keeping spool times down. Also check out Andy's thread about reducing spool times on his 2.3 You could probably gain some spool on your setup as it is with a little work and possibly a few parts. Cams and removing exhaust restrictions would help you in this department as well.
