Okay so after reading through the searchs I made I have a couple of questions. I have a set of rc 550s at the house. And I want to order a Evo III turbo. So I know I need some fuel control. I am really interest in the MAFT blow through setup. I know that for finer adjust they say you need a s-afc as well.

So my question is.......With my current mods, can I just throw the 550s in there with a 255hp walbro and the MAFT setup and get a decent tune? I see a lot of people complaining about the limited tuning of the MAFT setup.....While others love it....

I'm not going for a drag racer, I want a track day/auto Xer so I'm not gonna upgrade past an evo III 16g as far as the turbo goes and I would like to just use these injectors.

Thank You,
Ryan

I would recommend a FPR as well. Don't know to much about the MAFT, but I would go with DSMLink over SAFC2. I have a similar set up, but don't have the 550cc's, still on the 450cc stocks.

Problem with that is I just replaced my ecu not to long ago......And it's not a eprom = (....Doesn't it have to be an eprom to use dsmlink?

MAFT and 550ccs will work fine without an SAFC. If you get 660ccs you'll have trouble trying to get the idle right with just the MAFT and you will need an SAFC to fine tune things. You won't be able to max out your turbo with 550ccs, just remember that. The problem is the fuel pump. With the 255 you will most like overrun your FPR and will need an adjustable FPR to turn the fuel pressure down. You can get a 190 fuel pump which is almost the same price as a 255 but you won't have to spend another $150-$200 on an adjustable FPR. You do have a logger right?!

Yes, DSMLink only works on eprom ECUs. At your stage you don't need dsmlink. If you have the cash sitting around, sure get it. The MAFT and logger alone will be enough to tune the 550cc injectors. If you already have the 255 pump, look for an AFPR.

Okay, first...Yes I have a logger! Which is one of the reasons I wanted the maft setup. I know that I won't be able to max out the turbo, but I wasn't planning on doing that until I got some more driving experience with the car...not to mention some suspension mods and brakes. Brakes are next even before the maft setup. I just have the injectors and the logger already, and a friend who works at a GM dealership....:D Planning ahead ;)

So I'm good until I go bigger with the injectors..cool!

In your opinion would it be better to just get an s-afc then instead of the maft setup?

Thanks for the info!!!!!!!
Ryan

MAFT setup removes the restriction before the turbo, lets the turbo breathe and allows you to vent. I'd go with the MAFT over the SAFC. Yes you are good with the MAFT alone until you decide you want to run 660cc. If you EVER plan on getting 750cc injectors, you'll need DSMlink or something else. SAFC can't handle more than 660ccs.

Oh and I'm in Tallahassee so if you need any help, PM me. I'm a few hours away. :)

Thanks for all your help and hell yeah I'll send you something when I get all the stuff in....I really! appreciate your very generios offer...:D

Later,
Ryan
