aaaaaaaaaa,
Africa
The shop is telling me I have a gas leak, which I know is a load of crap because I've had the car running for a year now, and other than driving it to the shop last Tuesday, every time it's run it's just sat idle. I'd let it idle for a while just to lubricate all the seals and gaskets. There have NEVER been any puddles under the car. so I don't see how I supposedly have a gas leak...
But anyways...
They won't inspect it till it's fixed, and they have to fix it because my 10 day grace period on my registration is over, so I can't drive it home to do it here.
They called Chrysler and they said the part was discontinued. They didn't bother calling Mitsubishi, but I did, and they said they can't do anything without the part number. I was like "Well if they give me a part number at Chrysler, it wont be a Mitsubishi number?". The guy told me it would be a Mitsubishi part... so then wouldn't it be discontinued from Mitsu anyways?
Back to the topic again...
I'm making a junkyard run tomorrow to get a fender for my friend's Subaru, and the same yard that has his car has a pump and sending unit from a 92 Eclipse, and I'm pretty sure it's already off and in storage because I was there last week and didn't see any 1g's in the yard.
On car-part.com, there's only 1 option for the fuel pump on a 1991 Laser. It's the same as the one on an Eclipse before 1/31/1991. The 1991 Eclipse has a whole bunch of options. 1991 after 2/1/91 goes through 1992. Where this one they have is off a 1992 would it work? I'm wondering if maybe its just got a higher flow rating or something?
While I'm at it, is the one from a 1993 Eclipse with a 4G37 the same? I have a junk 93 here, I just don't know if that'd be the same. If it is, would it be worth the effort of dropping the tank and pulling out the pump/sender? Or would I be better off to just pay $40 or whatever and get one from the yard? Just wondering how much of a job it is.
