Fuel rail bolt size????

I just dropped my 420a in a few days ago and discovered that I am missing/lost :ohdamn: the two bolts that attach the fuel rail to the fuel line coming through the firewall. Does anyone know what size they are or somewhere that will sell them??? Thanks.
 
ASA and various other sources because sometimes ASA doesn't help, plus I don't believe ASA ever provides the pitch. Anyway, it'd be a waste to memorize bolt sizes when you can look them up so easily. :)

There are so many of these threads running around I figured a while ago it would be good to know how to get at that information to help folks along.

The pitch comment is true, however, you can usually figure out the correct pitch. There are some bolts that will be different than the norm, however.
 
Thread pitch isn't a calculable value from the shank size and length. The pitch is simply the distance between one point on one thread to the same point on an adjacent thread. The smaller the pitch, the closer together the threads and vice versa. You could have a M10 x 1.25mm pitch x 25mm length or M10 x 1.5mm x 25mm (or imagine a 5/16-18 or 5/16-24 for the Standard system, which are 5/16" in diameter and 18 and 24 threads per inch, respectively), hence your coarse, fine, and standard threads at the hardware store.

A larger pitched bolt of the same size and material will generally have a higher acceptable standard torque value; since the torque value is directly related to the axial tension in the bolt, ideally (and in a perfect scenario/world) a larger pitch means a greater clamping force provided by the fastener (though it must be noted there are a few variables that can play into that). It's safe to say it's a design/cost decision.

All that said, generally on our cars:
M5 are 0.8mm pitch
M6 are 1.00mm pitch
M8 are 1.25mm pitch
M10 are 1.25mm pitch
M12 are 1.25mm pitch
